I have a VERY low use 031 here that someone tried to do a Stihl electronic trigger on it. Sadly, they used the wrong one, and mounted it like 40 degrees retarded. Amazingly enough, the saw actually starts. It is a TOTAL botch job (particularly where they ground a chunk of the case off to mount the trigger.) I have the right trigger, but not the (NLA) bracket to mount it. I actually like points, so I just want to get everything inside the points box and the wires, and convert it back to what it is supposed to be. I also have a points 032 here, minus the airbox lid and air deflector plate. I'd like to find a flywheel to cut up and make the points tool since it is NLA. That 032 runs fairly well, but I don't dare run it long without the air deflector. Kinda like running a car without the rad shroud I think. I'd be interested in a pair of chainbrake covers too.

I have one non-chain brake clutch cover you can have if you want it and one 031 style starter housing with an air dam that's nice. I know what you mean about those botched conversion jobs- I've patched many of those myself.

032 air dam and 031 are different. 032 uses a standard style starter like modern saws. 031 has the tiny starter and integral fuel tank mess. If it is an 032 starter, I'm IN! As for the clutch cover, I appreciate it but I have a couple of good "plain" ones already. Just wanting to add brakes to my old junk.

Yeah I hate to grind half the life of a chain off it to make a play chain. I don't want any stihl as that stuff is hard on files.

I sharpen Stihl chain CONSTANTLY (@ work...) with a file... not too bad, with Stihl files, or better. It keeps an edge a good time longer, but in my case it doesn't matter :( the guys in the field HAMMER the chains into the ground :dizzy:

Does it have to be LGX? I think I might have some LG or maybe even some Carlton chisel if that will work.

Nope it is definitely LG, but it is .058. If that works, let me know. I thought it was .050, but was wrong.

WHAT is the difference between the non-X chains, and the X Chains??

IE: LG vs LGX....

:dizzy:

Looking for an original starter recoil assembly for a Husky 268.
Preferably still with the 268 decal. Also need the attaching screws.

Thanks for any help.

Improved grind, sharper out of the box, thats what they say, anyways.

I have no idea Jacob, The whole assembly is MIA.
How can i tell what i need or will either fit.

I'm almost certain that the later style is appropriate for your 268. There may have even been a few 266xp's with the large decal on the starter. That said, either one will start the saw.

This may be a long shot but.....

Growing up my dad bought a MAC PM610 from Spiegels (sp?).
He traded it for a RedBone Hound :)

I would like to get one someday. Just beceause he had one.
What kind of power do they have?
I remember he had trouble with the Carb at one time, he fixed it right before he traded it.

Are there any out there that want to live in Northern Arizona?

I've had a couple of those ...

Pros: LOTS of torque ... very dependable starters ... lots of parts around for them.
Cons: A bit heavy, known as the 'cinderblock saw' .. oilers can be squirelly at times.

Jon1212 posted earlier today in the 'eBay/CL Thread' one that is VERY clean and includes a case ... if it were closer, I might grab it! Here is the LINK.

Good luck!

Ive got a PM650, which is pretty much the same saw.
I like it, its heavy as all get out, but it starts every time, pretty easy to work on, and as mentioned before, has plenty of power.
