I did a search, but I could not find any prior posts on that new-fangeld climber offered by Bailey's called the 'Talon'.

They look like they either work real good, or suck real bad. I tested the fiberglass/footplate climbers out a while back, and they really sucked! But, they did make you 2" taller.

Has anyone climbed on these Talons?

i'm interested in them myself....i've developed some nasty heel spurs. i wear orthotics and go for cortizone shots in my heels periodicly. they could be the ticket........sherrill also sells them. i hope sean jumps in and tells me about what a great return policy they have incase i don't like them.

Where did you see Bailey's selling the Talon? I don't see it on their website, was it a magazine ad, or a sales flyer?

We've stopped selling them, although I think we have a few left in stock that are probably on our Blow-Out flyer for real cheap. So, kf, we'd probably be reluctant to take back a product that we had to "blow-out" to get rid of. There's nothing wrong with the climbers or the concept, it's just that they never really caught on, so we X'd them from the catalog.

It appears I've erred...
The climbers I called 'Talon' were incorrectly labeled - the ones I were referring to appeared in an old Baileys catalog I had maybe 6 - 8 mo ago.
They did not have footplates - they did have fiberglass shanks.
I think(?) they were called "Eagle Claws"(?)

They looked like they had potential.
If I could just find that catalog....

Don't worry about that catalog, I'm sure you filed it away correctly. I believe you're talking about the wolf claws, which I think had some negative reviews by fellow BB members.

sean
i do not see them listed on your bargain page. i'll call later...should i ask for you? or just ask who ever answers the phone?

thanks

The bargain page.....one more thing I have to update. DOH!!! I just checked, and it looks like a larger tree company just bought out our last 14 pairs. Sorry. I should have looked that up before posting that they were available.

JPS has a pair of the wolf claw's if my memory severs me correctly:blob2:

WOLF CLAW! THATS the danged name! A search with that name brought up a positive post from JPS. Thats a good sign - Does anyone else climb with these?

I'ld like to get a set, and turn my Bashlins into shortshanks.

Is JPS the only one at this site who owns a pair of Wolfies?

I remember a discussion on another forum about the Wolf Claws. Gerry Beranek said he tested them and found them not very good. If he didn't like them with the years he has spent on hooks, then they are probably not that good!

Thanks, bradley - I checked that thread out - Yikes!! I didn't realize they were made out of plastic, on the side supports - I thought they were fiberglass!
If JB don't like'em, I guess I'll steer clear. In the catalog pic they look kinda neat-o! Too bad.

Wolf Claws.

I just bought a pair barely used. Bucks and kleins tore up my calfs. Someone told I wasn't using hooks right unless they drew blood. I have only climbed a half a dozen trees in the wolf claws but with some tuning adjusment, they are super comforatle. No blood! No missing skin! Sure they are a bit bulky, but super comfy. I also have long legs. They are almost adjusted all the way out. They flexed a little, kinda freaked me out. The neoprene(not just plastic) does have some give. I shortened the adjustment on the outside one hole and wow what a difference. There are many haters in the world. Many people afraid of what they don't know. Anyone that I have spoken with that actually has the Wolf Claw, loves them. I so far feel the same way about mine. THank you world!

I would just like to hear if anyone has used a set of aluminum Climb Rights and if they like them or not. Oh, and what gaff do you use? Pole or tree? I use tree on my Bashlins, but I know a guy that climbs on pole gaffs.
