Can’t wait for 5 o’clock!!!

What a day!

Assistants uncle passed in the early morning, good tech and great guy- his father in-law has a stroke around 9am, shuttle driver gets rear ended and taken away in a ambulance around 10:30, three angry customers-two are from techs being lazy. One the lady is just a miserable person…..

GM announces that NY state is mandating that by 2026, 35% of our new vehicles sales need to be electric or they will hold back our allocation of ICE vehicles

Techs don’t want to do the electric car training because they don’t want to work on them. Boss says, but they wear electric safety rubber gloves. Lead teach says, if there is a absolute gorgeous girl that wants to have sex, but she is HIV positive, I don’t care if I’m wearing a rubber, I’m not sticking my **** in her. I gotta agree with him, big boss nods cause he understands.

Dunno how I’m going to get 15 guys 100% EV certified in a year, when it was hell convincing the three I do have certified to get certified. (They still don’t wanna work on them, but did the training outta respect for me)

I think I just heard Jimmy Buffet say, it’s 5 o’clock somewhere…..
Days like this suck Matt. Hope your beer(s) are cold. Only thing I'll say about the mandate is there's a new sheriff in town. :innocent:

Thinking NY and Cali are going to back off on the EV mandates . Washington will no longer have their backs . Not being political just saying .

I hear you bud. I took on a management position out of necessity this spring and it can be exhausting. I'm still labor force, but I get to make the lions share of the unpopular decisions that have to be made for a business to keep moving forward.

I feel your pain Matt! We've all had the days that suck. I hope things turn around at work for ya. Remember you have your beautiful family to come home to, don't drag the work stuff home. Personally I struggle with that. My wife will remind me that I'm not at work.

The EV thing is unfortunate. Does GM pay extra for EV certification? Sounds like they need to step up and pay the piper since they're shoving it down your throat.

Thankfully, here in the independent world we're a few years away from working on EVs beyond tires and brakes.

I had fun today...we had a 2019 Jeep with a head gasket failure. I'm usually the one to get these kind of jobs. Started at 4 yesterday and it looked like this at 3.20241108_153847.jpgHere's all the parts to get to this point...20241108_153944.jpg20241108_153934.jpgUnfortunately the customer must've been driving it like this for awhile and the hot combustion gasses burned away the deck surface on the block. Both intake camshafts had wiped lobes so it would need both @ $500 ea.(Local dealer stocks them.) Now the bill will go from $2500 to 5-9k depending on what the customer chooses for an engine.20241108_153725.jpgIt's a shame that we're even doing this, it only has 100k on it.

I'm up at the cabin by myself tonight, Matt and his BIL should be up in the morning.

Luckily, I unloaded the truck just before the weather turned (this was NOT predicted). Heavy rain, extreme wind, is sounds like I'm in the middle of a hurricane up here, and the temps dropped to 30. Just glad the wood stove is kicking out heat, and hoping things change by tomorrow AM!

We are supposed to insulate the new bathroom, and I even brought a dual flush toilet up with me!

Happy 30th birthday to me! View attachment 1217700
Happy birthday 🎂.
Nice assault crocks 😜.
Sweet mower too, they sure help get the lawn mowed quickly. Many guys don't like them, because it makes it hard to drink a beer while mowing, for that I'd say get a hydration pack .
Enjoy your day.

My Country Clipper had a joystick. You could certainly drink a beer while mowing on that one.

Nice, not an option I need, but I know someone will find that info crucial!.
I need to get another trac vac, leaves take way to long to blow of the yard with the mower of backpack blower with all the outbuildings someone built here :innocent:. But, I'm not complaining, sure is nice to have the buildings and everything in them.
Got the chutes cut and installed yesterday, and the insulation in the wall above the shelf. Also installed 3/4 isopoly under the shelf to separate the bays, and I'll install r-11 in the 2x4 wall under the shelf today if I get all the electrical finished.

Find some black locust to build it on. Depending on the size 2x6 with a 3/4" OSB floor is fine. I used 2x8 with 3/4 tongue and groove OSB for a 10x12 with the 2x8 spanning the 10', it's held up great even with my zero-turn mowers in it.
I'm getting ready to build a chicken coop, 7-8 or 8x10. I already have 4 locust logs vertical in the ground from the current coop, I'll probably use those to build off of, but I'll probably add two more further out as the current coop is 4x8. I'll be using all 2x6 for the base as it will not have any weight in it.
I don't have a source of BL like you do, so I'll have to buy PT 6x6s. The shed will be either 10x12 or 10x16. I was planning on 2' deep post holes topped with concrete tops to get to grade and then placing three 6x6s on 5' centers for the joists to ride on. Maybe 2x6s or 2x8s with 3/4 OSB on top. May be overkill and I don't like the idea of more post holes than just 4 to plumb up. I might be storing milled lumber in it and I don't want the floor to sag. I'm still in the planning stages.

Arrrrh.... Don't you just hate it when this happens?

That was the last of the mulberry I just split last month. Going to try to get it restacked before the noon rain starts. I have more garden work to do this week before my duck season starts next Saturday and I certainly don't have the time to re-do things.

Jumped a nice buck while going in with the Crossbow this morning. He was hurdling the logging remains, so no chance to count points.

He ran right past a trail camera, but I guess he was too fast, it did not PU a thing! Several does and Bear on the trail cameras the last couple of days, all at night!

Yep. I had similar last month, but it was the nearest stack to the OWB and time to fire it up for the year, so I just burned it instead of having to restack it. :numberone:

I'm thinking of building a shed on 6x6s to avoid taxes on a platform similar to your deck. Are those 2x8 joists? What's the span of the 6x6s? Mine will be for lawnmowers and garden equipment.
2x8 joists yes, spaced 16" on centre. 8 foot span where the joists sit on the 6x6's. Would be plenty solid for for anything that you would normally store in a shed. Unless we're talking about a functioning hot tub or a car lol...

I'm no engineer, but that will probably support a bulldozer, if the door's big enough.
