I've been cutting for 18 years and i still dont screw with a wheel cut like that if there is exposure. You play a dangereous game Murphy. There are other alternatives in the facecut area than that, in the woods play that game all day long, and if you do you will see that technique is no where near a sure thing. :blob5:

HUH?:dizzy:

Where is treespyder? I didn't see a post from him, maybe he changed his name, I dunno.
This cut is pretty rudimentary, don't want to sound to, well, you know...
At least I thought it was. I don't remember ever learning it anywhere, just starting doing it cause it steers the limb real good. makes perfect sense.

Its not that uncommon to use two notches in one trunk. One goes one way and the other another... oh but you have to be careful.

Nice shot Murphy but really, Lol, such new fangled words for your notch and hinge??? Treemen been doing that foreva bro. Nothing fancy about that notch IMHO. Too funny! When you gonna show us some technical stuff?

Don't get me wrong bro, you rock but you need to show us some climbing (not ringing bells in trees)...

risky

one day you'll be doing that and the bed wont hold and you'll be fukd. you should have told your loader to wait and went up and buttcatched a top.

Huh dude? lol

what part didnt you understand? i'm sure like every place, florida has its own terms for tree work. bed=notch=wedge=birds mouth etc. buttcatcch=when you top a tree with a rope where when you are done, the top is hanging from the stub right near your flipline.

nothing special, I learned that 30ish years ago as well as driving a wedge in on the side of the lean.......

I am mostly here to learn. I have always tried to keep hinges even so the tree goes where I am aiming it. No major deviations. It does look like a technique I might try sometime. Maybe where I have a lot of room for error.
