Are you pulling apart the rear swing arm assembly? Lots of needle roller bearings in there will love you even more if you give it a liberal coating of some molybdenum grease I know mine do.

Nope that's as far as I'm going this time. I needs a top and build way over by time but still pulls hard so I'll do the swing arm and steering head then

Anyone here used or know much about log trailers with knuckleboom+grapple loaders being pulled by ag tractors? Looking into this option but have only seen expensive toys here that won't last long. Maybe if could find someone wrecking a forwarder with a good enough trailer and loader, then just fit a drawbar to it. None of this stuff is cheap though, which makes for expensive mistakes if buy wrong.

Maybe find a truck wrecker, hopefully a good used crane, a trailer chassis and axles to cannibalise and see what sort of dog's breakfast I could make from it?

Another suggestion is Chinese made log trailer, but I worry mostly about the loader on those. Haven't seen them around here to know what the quality is like.

To solve this problem I know quite a few people where I go hunting for wood that have purchased beaten up old crane trucks......They really make a meal of collecting timber and often can be had for a song, especially if it doesn't need rego or a roadworthy

Thanks. That's the rub though - having to pay for transporter when moving on public roads between farms, which I do a fair bit of. Just down the road a few k's on a quiet rural road, sweet as, I'd probably take the risk, but 20k's down our main state highway would be asking for trouble. I'm going to have to spend more time working out what cranes will be worth chasing and then seeing what's available at the wreckers or the like.

Having a hard time tracking down the rules around log forwarders on public roads (in case it's a better solution). Bloody exemptions, endorsements, classes, etc, etc all over the show. It's a very confusing tangle of rules I can't makes any sense of.

Wings and wheels at Raglan, between Gladstone and Rockhampton. Matt Hall who is in the Red Bull Air Race series was there and put on a good show, among many others. The sound of the radial engine in the T28? Trojan is something to behold. Will try to throw a couple pics up soon.

I do love the sound of a big (or multiple) radial/s, but for me nothing beats the sound of a Merlin at full noise.

I have one of those but only a 125 goes like all fark for a 125 and I can ride it faster then my 2 banger husky 250 cause I'm a short bastard and its low to the ground but the big husky kills it for grunt. The bloke I got the husky off also had a restored 1960s husky 360 and the big brother to my 250 the husky 400 was great to ride them all the 400 was a real eye opener having ridden honda cr500s Yamaha yz490s ect the husky was a real different animal it was real happy down low crawling along in 1st or 2nd gear doing trail riding sort of stuff with ease but open the taps and it gave nothing away to the others in top end except it it had brakes and about 3 feet of suspension travel
