Finally got my trailer sorted. Checked 7 different places that import hot dipped trailer chassis in from China...quality varies enormously when it comes to the welds. All the chassis I found were pretty much engineered to around 3600kg GVM then just need to sort the suspension, hubs and axles....I went with the 2 ton brake setup (mechanical disks just on the front axle) but upped the axles to 45mm solid and light truck tires. Will be good for 4 ton...5 Cu. Mtrs. to the top of cage...that should do the trick 9x5ft w/400mm sides and 1800mm drawbar.20150601_200115.jpeg

on closer inspection of my filter it looks like a molding defect and something that slipped thru QA. it looks like the seal is molded on afterwards and wasnt a full shot of the rubber. stihl shop was surprised and replaced it and the filter has a long trip back to the mother ship in germany.
thanks chippy for highlighting your problem as it made me look at mine and possibly saved or prolonged the life of my 084!

i think now since i didnt kill myself wth the 084 on the weekend i am ready for this now power house of a saw. i hope with Neils blessing i can join the ozito ninja saw club, and still be walking by the end of the week.

I've towed a 5ton excavator + trailer + buckets through the CBD without working brakes on the trailer behind the cruiser. Wasn't a problem as long as I didn't exceed about 30kph as slowing down was a big issue, especially down small inclines. Lucky there were no big downhill sections or I would have had to engage low range or I just would not have been able to slow down at all (I wont be doing that again)....should manage that trailer filled with timber no problem, but I'll mostly be using it for building works. Not sure what the towing capacity of the Holden is but I'd be guessing somewhere around the 2.5t mark would be about right. It will only be doing light weight stuff anyway behind that.

Glad to be of assistance Vince.

Is that 1 year warranty on the cardboard box? Must be quality cardboard!

Reminds me of a time when we loaded up a 6x4 caged trailer to the brim with concrete, only car we had to tow was mums sigma! Car was never the same lol

Ive got no idea what wieght would be possible to tow behind the cruiser, the only problem has ever been stopping. I upgraded the suspension when I bought it to HD springs in the back and Rockcrawler torsion bars from the USA in the front......nobody in Oz made anything decent....I had to send my top and bottom lower control arms off to a suspension manufacturer in QLD, they made adjustable cam bushes for all my control arms, they also strengthened the control arms (not exactly legal)and used my setup as the template for further production for that vehicle.....they did that for free for me as otherwise they would have had to purchase a new setup from Toyota at big cost.

I once over did it with another vehicle and the axle twisted on the leaf spring setup in the rear and from that day onwards my car drove down the road sideways. Was hilarious.

It's a 1 year warranty if you don't open the box [emoji6]

Tow balls are rated to 3.5 ton. Then need to upgrade to something bigger
I have 4 electric brakes on my trailer and with the brake controller and loaded trailer it stops quicker than just the patrol on it's own. !

I hear they work better in the box than out of it.....so sounds good.

To get the legal rating above 2000kg GVM on the trailer I would have had to go that route plus the electric breakaway, but I really couldn't justify the extra coin for a trailer that could still carry 3 ton, just brake a whole lot better. The cruisers brakes with OEM tires work a treat in the wet and dry, with the muddies on that's another story though. The coin I saved doing it that way will pay for a log splitter and if I'm lucky one of those cutty cutty chains that work best arse-about.

Hopefully the decision to save some coin that way doesn't come back to bite me on the butt. Time will tell.

Wonder if any one out there had had an 051/076 fill up the cranks case with bar lube but not via a crank gasket but possibly the oil pump. Had one that I pulled down and split and replaced the gasket but it's bloody filled its self again

Bought a new o76 in 1985'ish Benn*e and owned it to 2002 when I got an 066. Terrific saw the 076 btw.

Your post made me think back to its habit of smoking its ar*e off when first started after having been sitting for a while, testing the grey matter but I think a couple of weeks or more would bring that about.

It'd always start, but blot out the sun for a minute then totally normal after that.

I remember pulling the plug and it was very oily. All I could think at the time was if it was put away with a fairly high level of fuel the fuel was going into the motor and the petrol evaporating leaving the oil.

Your problem seems similar and it'll be interesting to see what you work out.

That saw also taught me that when checking the spark with the plug resting beside the plug hole for earth don't be surprised when the fuel vapour
ignites............:surprised3::dancing::innocent:

PS...thinking more, can also remember having to take the plug out to drain oil as it wouldn't turn over due to oil above the piston. Be good to find out.

Geez Neil, you don't ask for much do you. I thought just a video of him trying to start it, the subsequent frustration and the smashing of it against the tree then run over by the Troll would have been sufficient.

$69 at Bunnings for that saw Vince.

I'm going to go and buy one tonight....it says on the website that this saw is intended for DIY use only. Does that mean you shouldn't lend the saw to anyone, or does it mean if you are a pro it then becomes a pro saw in your hands?

Do you intend porting that saw or running harvester chain on it?

This is the back end on one of those awesome Tojo tow rigs its late model too as you can see its welded on not pop riveted like the earlier models

yeah, it is 2100kg. Certainly not optimistic in my view. It's an Adventura V6 and it tows a 2t boat no problems at all. The missus has put 300k on the clock and it's still going, which surprises me. Fuel pump has made a sick noise for 2 years now, but still going strong. Got the leather interior which is nice too, and those hydraulic action cup holders that you'd expect to see on the starship enterprise.

Also has been used for towing horse floats without any problems so that rating is good to go I reckon.

I've got one that has that happen, it was a council rig for the first 100k of its life and it towed a little ewp all the time. Weird long trailer with a massive drawbar. Even if the drawbar weight was sensible it would have had massive shock load as it went down the road.

The rest of it was a neat, nearly last year, turbo 6 so we grabbed it.
