SNIP!!!

That was the name of the Strawberry and Chocolate one. I just had to text my mate in Tassie as he liked the Strawberry ones and I liked the Chocolate. Not sure if they were sold elsewhere. Now I can actually sleep soundly tonight...

Just found this on a "Discontinued Food Items You Miss" post on another forum (thanks Google).

"Chocolate & Strawberry 'Snips'

They were ice-blocks in a sort of triangular soft cardboard container, like a Sunnyboy, hence the name 'Snip' as you'd have to snip the top off with scissors to eat it.

Maybe they were just a South Australian thing. Haven't seen one since the mid-80's."

Mmmm, I had a crush on Sharon Callaghan then, she was HOT :msp_wub:

Alas, I was too much of a nerd/scared of rejection to ask her out :(
We were just good mates......

We'd occasionally cross paths in my old home town fifteen years later and catch up, and she still had it :D

Bahahaha. I had a primary school crush on a girl in my year but then at a swimming carnival she had a big, green booger hanging from one of her nostrils. The infatuation and stalking ended immediately...

Never heard of them, but they must've been good, turning at least one young schoolkid into an SAS Trooper, although they did corrupt his mate into a chainsaw wielding maniac.....

Mate they were good for sure. I rated them way above Sunnyboys and Razz. We also had one named a Crusta made by a local fruit juice plant named, um, Crusta coincidentally.
Maybe the maniac part resulted from Lactose intolerance and artificial colouring? My mate in the SAS obviously channeled his extra energy into good instead of evil...

Bwahahahahahaha, that's a romance killer, right there :D

I still wake up sweating and screaming, clutching my hanky...
I can honestly remember that as clearly as yesterday, even though I can't remember what the hell I even did yesterday...

This is the best part of the All Aussie Dribble Thread EVER!!!

Mate, I can still see a kid I was talking to in Kindy with his nose dripping, nay, pouring bright, green slime straight into his drink as he drank
smiley-sick029.gif
and yes, I can even remember his name, yet can't remember what the flock I did yesterday :(

Aah, some more old codgers, thanks Andrew

What was the Cola one called ? and yep, I'd forgotten about the free ones.
That was so cool when you scored one (pun intended :D)

I remember things were a lot cheaper back then, but can't remember actual prices.

Could Sunny Boys have been around 5c (or maybe 7c ?) in the mid seventies ?

When I was in primary school there was a strip of shops opposite the school and we were allowed to go across the road for 'play lunch' (recess) and lunch. (can you imagine the little darlings being allowed out of school grounds during the day now ?)

We had a choice of two Fish and Chip shops, good old fashioned Milk Bar owned by a great Greek bloke called 'Steve' and his wife Olive, (great milkshakes) and a proper, honest to goodness bakery where we'd stock up on huge, iced finger buns split and laden with whipped cream, scrummy apple turnovers (and for 2c you'd get extra whipped cream) apple pies, (and for 2c extra, etc, etc :D ) lamingtons, vanilla slices (mmmm) real meat pies and pasties in winter and IIRC I only had 50c to take to school so I couldn't OD on crap :(
It was all made and baked there, and unlike today it was all mixed there too, most bakeries today buy the mix in 20kg bags from the wholesaler, that's why it all tastes the same from town to town.
A shame the Chinese takeaway was never open during the day, otherwise we'd have sampled that too.

Smart thinking on only giving me 50c and a packed lunch Mum ;)

Aww, c'mon Bob, don't get snakey just because some of us are actually young enough to remember our old school days and are indulging in a little harmless fun. :D

Not everything new is better and not everything old is bad, but I'll take today's sprung AV and lighter designs over an old saw for continuous use anyday, if it's all the same.
Hell, if I didn't like/tolerate old designs (and build quality) I wouldn't drive a Land Rover Defender.
What Land Cruiser drivers call 'unacceptable', us Landy drivers say 'character', which sort of sounds like old Mac drivers

AV is definitely my friend... sooo smooth.

Talking about Landy's, I was reading about a bloke that modded his new 90 and ended up with 700Nm (in this months 4wd Action). Goes really well he says, only problem is that he snaps an axle around every corner... I think some Patrol axles would solve his problem, but then the rest of the drive train would probably not last then.

Yeah but but but Mac drivers dont drive landrovers pommy crap at its best or squinty eyes jap crap either we's rather walk first.

And and we're dry behind the ears too

A complete Salisbury axle assembly out of a pre-02 110/130 Defender with aftermarket 31 spline axles would solve his problem too, and be the most cost effective swap, and a Quaife ATB centre diff to replace the open diff in the t/case so that all the torque doesn't go to the axle with the spinning wheels would help too.

The new Getrag 'box should be pretty stout, (it's the same as used in the Transit and Mustang) and the t/case can cope pretty easily as it's all gear driven.

A Patrol rear end wouldn't work with a 90 as the centred diff with the offset t/case and such a short wheel base would have obscene uni angles.
They tend to vibrate in RRC's and Disco's that have them fitted too, I think you need at least one double cardan, and maybe one at either end to work well.

[edit] The Sals axle may be a problem too as the pinion nose is a lot longer than the Rover diff. Probably need a big double cardan joint as well.

So you drive Chinese Communist made stuff instead, let alone the clone saw 90 build that's supposedly happening

Yep, that argument's sound Bob

That sounds like a good fix - might have to get one and try it :D

Yeah my dad had a G-wagen many years ago with a centred diff - bad drive angle and it used to have serious vibration problems. Not sure why the designers even sold it like that.
