Today I swung my front door wide open and placed my Remington 30.06 on the deck rail. I left six cartridges beside it, then left it alone and went about my business.
While I was gone, the mailman delivered my mail, my neighbor across the street mowed his lawn, a girl walked her dog down the street, and quite a few cars stopped at the stop sign near the front of my house.
After about an hour, I checked on the gun. It was still sitting there, right where I had left it. It hadn't moved itself off the deck rail. It hadn't killed anyone, even with the numerous opportunities it had presented to do so.
In fact, it hadn't even loaded itself. You can imagine my surprise, with all the hype by the Left and the Media about how dangerous guns are and how they kill people.
Either the media is wrong or I'm in possession of the laziest gun in the world.
The United States is third in murders throughout the World. But if you take out just four cities: Chicago , Detroit , Washington DC and New Orleans , the United States is fourth from the bottom, in the entire world, for murders.
These four Cities also have the toughest Gun Control Laws in the U.S. All four of these cities are CONTROLLED BY DEMOCRATS. It would be absurd to draw any conclusions from this data - correct?

Wondering if anyone here might be able to help with some tree identification?
I have about 25 acres, most of it is tree'd, and it would appear as tho there is very little variety. But I keep coming across different timber. I have bought a few books to help but none are really in lamen. Would I be wrong in saying this is a red gum

Spot on I'd say!.....Ground even looks like it would hold a bit of water after high rain fall.

Good, that narrows down a lot of it. Take this for example. Before the bark peals it is almost identical, but the tree is pale yellow and has different leaves. No darker red core in the wood and I'd say it's a yellow gum (but happy to be corrected)

And then there are these big'ns. I've got quite a few and most you'd need at least 42" worth of bar to sort them out. I've cut up a few limbs that have fallen off and the wood is a pinkish colour, it burns amazing. I've given a few trailer loads away and was told it was a "grey" of some description. Doesn't peel much, heavy/corse bark.
I can't really tell from your pic, but if it is Yellow Gum (White Ironbark) the leaves will be finer than the Red Gum, the buds and fruit much larger, flowers red and given your location it should have just finished flowering.

Grey box perhaps......burns like iron bark. Better than redgum to burn.
