trip to Darwin our 1st was perfect just 3 days but as the monsoon season not fully started we had clear weather was fuggin hot n humid but we had expected this

Hotel was great cheap easy our 1st airbnb run
dear wife hooked up a croc and later had one on the lunch plate
Prapp market was better than expected
did heaps of other stuff Museums Fogg dam got to Adelaide river can recommend it

i saw some good croc bubbles along the cause way but freaked out wife wouldn't let me out of the car.. Fogg Dam near saves you the $$ trip to Kakadu

Derwoodii, do you guys use a big shot to get lines in trees? I use a shackle on a throw line and hurl it up, just change the size of a shackle depending on how high etc. But somedays I get it first throw and sometimes an easy one can take 20 attempts. Starting to piss me off and I wonder if a big shot is going to be any better, especially on the higher throws ?
I use a length of sash cord and arbor throw bag and can get this up reasonably accurate 40 - 50 foot sure some days are better than others .. you can get Arb throw line cord in throw bag its lighter more accurate and allows throw of 60 plus feet but its not as strong as sash cord which i often use to pull out hanger and dead spars..

Thanks. Am using 3mm dyneema because I gota roll cheap, but might try thinner stuff. What are the throw bags like if you miss a target and have to drag the bag back to rethrow? the shackles can catch sometimes and be an arse, but with 3mm dyneema they always come out before the line breaks. Even if i have to tie it to a car or the tractor and drag the ******* out. But if the throw bags don't get stuck I really should get one or two and it won't be such a risk stepping down to the thinner line either. They come in different weights. Which would you suggest?
3mm dymeema perfect,,, throw bags are designed to pull back & pull cord down clean soft too not bust windows or your head ,,,, until the cord takes a wrap, snags a under bark, lands & hooks up 5th story window sill,,,(ask me how i know this),,,,, then ya stuffed..
Always have a spare bag and different weights ,,,, a handy tool is 4+ meter pole of conduit with a hook on its end helps ya get that last bit down

Thanks very much for that. Ha, yes, looks like shackle is stuck so you yank on it and it comes free and nearly takes ya head off
Sometimes, when a throw goes awry, I stand back and wonder how the fark it got so tangled and over that but under that and round that. It's like a one in a million turn of events that seems to happen every 50. Like the one in a hundred year storm that is happening every two years.Good idea on the pole too.

While I'm on a roll, am looking at buying some 10t (say 20t breaking to give me some working load wriggle room) bull rope to pull trees over. Am needing about 60-100m to keep the tractor clear in those circumstances I can't get a block on anything to redirect. But in the case of emergencies I need to be able to 'cut the cord' rather than slingshot my tractor down a gully or over a road, etc.
I'm leaning towards 12 strand dyneema for the performance and weight and ease of splicing, etc, but fark me that's expensive.
Any suggestions, apart from learn to climb and block them down?

scrounge about ask maybe fire dept, habour wharfs crane company places that use rope winches with old stuff out of service they have to chuck out,,, Dyeema be best as 60+m of wet rope weigh heaps hard to handle ..
I found a rope manufacturer here that lets me buy for nuthin off cuts and seconds
spent the evening sucking bees out of a hive that had become a issue... so a chap and i used a vacuum hooked into bee box to suck them out,, all worked perfect till we discovered the car battery had gone flat

Anyone here in Queensland and interested in some beer money please? I'm chasing about 1000 seeds of Eucalyptus sphaerocarpa, commonly known as the Blackdown stringybark. Have read it's native to the Blackdown tablelands.
Don't know if anyone there sells seeds, but happy to pay into the many hundreds if not and someone wants to write off a day to scrounge up the seeds from some good specimens?

feeling sad or annoyed or maybe just contented,,,im not sure after almost 10 years dear daughter has resigned from Bunnings and so with that i loose my 10 - 15 or 20% and sometimes greater family % discount.. So i goes down tonite stand in the tool shop of goodies with $200 buck to spend and to hell i dont want or can't settle on anything ffs i even had my Bosh and Makita batterys to fit to various skins like a angle grinder,,,, narh an impact drill narh a circle saw nar whats wrong with me. I got a few more days before close what should i buy??

I pretty much got all i need & skilled in tool wise twice covered sure a battery angle grinder be nice but the cord one just fine,,, spare bigger battery is in the list but im now eyeing a gun safe as saw this on special and my current one is a bit full
