Sounds like plenty of former bike racers in the chainsaw scene. Somebody should bring a couple of old farmbikes to the GTG, set up a track and see who can still throw the iron around.

hmmm farm bikes does that mean my old tractor is suitable, its not real good at turning but in strait line look out

Yeah, it's hard for former racers to not pass on something like that. I could see me taping myself up, putting on a couple of back braces, loading up on analgesics, lying to the wife about what I was going to do - and then just get it on!

It's been 5 odd years since I was on my KTM525 dirty, so I'm itching. I could go a new Ktoom, Husky or Husaberg. :D

Hedy Rick, see the 2 stroke oil in the diesel fuel threads getting around the 4wd forums? (been happening for the last couple of years by the looks of things but only noticed)

Yeah, done it myself years ago just for some extra lube for the pump but some of the 'performance' claims that are being made ATM are so OTT it's ridiculous.

I've upset a few people by telling them it's a placebo effect but have given up commenting on it as there's too much buzz.
If people want to believe something 'magical' has happened by adding some ashless two stroke lube to their diesel, over and above what is added already (to comply to Oz standards).....:dizzy:

I got you all beat. My new cheapy 250cc four stroke quad put me on my arse the other day. Reverse to first gear with a few revs and a dropped clutch proved to me that I'm too fat and the knobblies have too much grip...

Yeah they get carried away with it. Even a sticky on the Patrol forum.

Terry will remember this one.......many, many moons ago the dirt bike mag told everyone "V8Juice" will make your bike go faster. You can imagine what happened!

Yeah Al, I remember that! Geoff took a load of crap from people that actually tried to get V8 performance from their bikes by putting V8 juice in their tanks.

I did another article called 'Zeus Boost' which was another satire article on the 'Roost Boost'. I had a roll of 'Life Savers Candy' that had a couple of wires sticking out of the packet of peppermint candies. "Give your bike the power of Zeus, you know who he was, the God of Lightening! Everyone knows that unburned fuel escapes from the engine - now you can ignite that fuel with the power of the Zeus Boost. The Zeus Boost contains a ceramic like material not unlike the ceramics found in Nuclear Reactors! Yadda, yadda....

We actually had people write in and complain that they couldn't tell any difference in power.

people went our and bought power polarisers?

I see Will's having a read here too.

Will, that angle head die grinder you told me about turned up yesterday.

I'll use it on my 084 practice cylinder on the weekend and take some photo's.
I think it'll be a tight fit inside a 50mm cylinder though.

Send one one out for me to test please! :)

Wanna port it Al? I tell you what, for 250cc it bloody goes alright. Arse out in 3rd gear no problem. Power slides in 4th at 80kph. Then I show off to my cousin's kids at under 5kph and land on my butt. They laughed and I acted as if I didn't really bruise my arse. The carry rack stopped it landing on me :) ...

Take it easy on that quad bloke,i had truble with one a couple of years back, could not lift a chainsaw for 6 months and didnt work for 12 months.I was only going walking pace haha,so from know on i go fast and havnt had a problem since.

Rick, nice response on the POPs. It gets pretty hard to argue when you are confronted with the actual carb manufacturer's recommendations.

I just got back from doing some cutting. I had the 20" bar buried in some dried Blackbutt and the saw was hungry and screaming 'MORE WOOD!'. I was leaning on it to keep the saw happy.

I'm going to take another loop off the spring just to find out what happens. It may not need it, but I won't know until I go too far.

Crikey, to think this saw originally started out as an inexpensive 45cc homeowner saw. I may see if I can find a 445 starter cover for it so I can have a really neat 'sleeper' of a saw.
