Gee your a little late rising and shining Deano ................ reread the comments Dean they have travelled to see little old Bob they even got a free cuppa when they arrived.

Well another point did I say I had beaten anyone git over it Dean you startin' to sound like last years paper or flag waver shouldn't you be out the back practicing or sumthing

Yeah Bob, behind the times I know. When I read and posted that comment this morning there were not many posts after it. By the time it got listed in the scheme of things - its behind the times. I think the hamster had a mild infarction and delayed proceeding. SORRY about that. made look a real bunion. You know something that appears unwanted (similar to some one else I know).

As for last years news: gee let me say - DITTO::msp_wink:

Fun weekend - I had to buy a trailer so that I can move my saws... hmm I think this CAD thing is getting a little out of hand :monkey:

Rudy, nice trailer, just big enough to fit one Chinese 070 and some spare parts to keep it running for a couple of weeks :)

I found one of my races, you can see me spear off the track backwards doing 215km/h at about 3:23 :D
I qualified 15th here, pissed off as I was always dicing with Dave Besnard and Ben Morely in the State Championship but I was by myself that weekend, no pit crew, not a soul to help and trying to run in a new engine, set the car up and I had no idea what times i was running but there were plenty of full time racers behind me, I think it was a 42 or 44 car field that weekend.
#### happens, crashed out both races, you can see me being punted off in race 1 here, 1995 Eastern Creek - JEREMY BRAITHWAITE PHOTOGRAPHY that smoke is from the bloke that hit me, he was locked up from 60m back

Bit late to comment, but when I had problems Gregg wasnt able to help me, so I had to go in hard and push upwards through the bureaucracy with my problem.

I do wonder if a US shipping service would be a better way to get stuff from baileys to Aus?

picked the old girl up at Gatton a few months ago

Which engine in that old girl,,, v8 chrisler. I learned to drive on AB160 inters then onto a 690 Dodge, that was a good truck for delivering sawn timber, heaps of balls and it had the 5 speed box with the 2 speed diff (all the modern good gear).
How much small trucks have changed, those old girls like your dodge would drive up a gum tree if it could get traction.

Great pic mate, yup, that would of been a year prior to me starting on the racing scene.

Looking at the faces there from queensland I know all but one. Gavin and Jason are starting to race again, #### and Dave don't race much these days, the heavier bearded bloke, his name escapes me atm, he hasn't raced for a wile now. The one I don't recognize is the curly headed one.

Good show Will, yep its easy to name em when your part of the whole show. That fellow at the back, yea I remember him but don't know his name either, he only post ripped. the other bearded chap was from stand Thorpe, and he is a wild and wooly chap to say the least, he usualy helps out at Standthorpe show.

Yep, over half the V8 drivers from the last twenty years, plus plenty of other categories including a certain F1 driver came from then.
Every race was a knock down, drag 'em out affair with the front runners alternating from a group of about twenty on any given weekend.

I have no photos from back then at all, save one proof, so it was a trip down memory lane seeing Jeremy's pics of the start including me being taken out and then finding the vid.
Funny thing is I didn't realise Jeremy took photo's, I was asked to test a car of his to help set it up in a test day just before Amaraoo closed and that was the last race car I ever drove. ( I stuffed my back and was ####ed for two years after that, partly from that test, long story)

Hahaha, names like Bargwanna were in that race too but he was outside the top 12 and yet other races he was fighting for first, that's what it was like back then.
The year before was when Marcus Ambrose won the championship, Brighty won in '95, went off to the US and dominated the series he ran over there then ran out of money, his parents took out a double mortgage on their house to fund him.
Dave Besnard who I diced with all that season locally went to the US the season after Brighty and dominated and won the same series but had to come home too.

Ann Neal was the Publicity Officer for the category and took Weber under her wing, he was all of 17 or 18 at the time and she took him to the UK for the next season, she was early/mid thirties and was Johnny Herbert the F1 driver's manager too so it helped but he was/is good.
BTW, they are still together ;)

Well mr Bob, I was controlling proceedings that weekend, those in the areana call us judges, I believe I may of even been chief steward as well that week end.

You ever done any race day judgeing or ever been requested to be a national judge controling the best competitors in the country....

A bit hard to be selected in a state team if your judgeing the entire event.

Don't worry big boy, I can help you name them if you want.

Well bugger me dead your a judge heaven forbid I recall you telling me that countless times just in case I forgot you mentioned it.

Yes I know some of the NSW boys only ever got to see some of the Queenslanders on a few occasions as I don't spend half my life travelling north as I don't see a need for it.

And Mr Bob starts with a capitol young grasshopper or did you miss that day at school

McBob

Nope, in fact I recently had the engine fully rebuilt and the IP fully checked and set by specialist. He is well known to set them on the low side of the peramiters for safety and fuel economy. My egts are well within the safe range, even when giving it a foot full with a trailer on and going up an incline......no actual response or change in speed, just a very slow increase on the egts.

What is "low rmp"

The Triton that work gives me to drive has 20k on the clock has been serviced by the dealer when it should and it blows smoke at every set of lights if i use a heavy foot , not black soot like some trucks but grey white ish and enough that you can tell one I have the foot-down and two it is a diesel.

low rmp is
little observable waste rotational mechanical performance
it is a technical term for not doing a burnout at the traffic lights :msp_biggrin:

great pics Splitpost, Looking at your pics, the timber, the earth, the plant life....only colours you see in Oz. Is that a cypress behind your wood pile?

Rudolf, either you have ALOT of saws or just a few really, really big ones :msp_biggrin:

Being myself (Some selfdoubt and some the inquisitve type) I ran some numbers from my little traffic infringement. At 45km/h, which I would not have been going faster than as I was behind a crew cab with 20-25 foot boat on trailer, that was slowing to turn left, I would have been travelling at 12.5 m/sec. The police officer claimed I floored it from 30 meters my side of the intersection. If a amber light stays amber for 3 seconds, I would not have been more than one car length over the first solid white line. From my memory the light went red as I was pretty much on the other side of the lights. Now the intersection is 3 lanes wide each direction that crosses the direction I was going, plus the middle island.

Any idea how wide an average lane is? because that would be 6x that plus the island....Sure there would need to be a few things checked, like time of amber etc. Im happy to admit that the light turned amber before I crossed my first solid white line, but I think it is debatable whether my car was physically cabable of achiving the alleged "performance" of said officer...

Sad thing it is actually easier to pay the $330 than spend the time/money fighting it. Heck it costs $40 just for a copy of the recording the officers "may" have been doing at the time.

On a better note, I Just had my JBL speakers re foamed and decided to dust of my NAD304 and have been using a NAD iPod dock to stream Triple J while I procrastonate through my assignment.

one of the local traffic branch Sargents finally got his storytelling self into trouble. He booked a guy on a bike he saw speeding going the other way on a four lane road had is story critiqued by maths and physics professors at the local university, the the rider was a phd uni student.
The Sargent has been making up stories for years and he believes his own BS.
The short version was the Sargent would have had to have accelerated to in excess of 350 kmph stopped again accelerated to in excess of 350 kmph and then slowed down to follow the student for the required 400 meters all of the was supposed to have happened in a 60 zone and there is less than a 1000 meters between the sets of lights.

The Sargent was latter accused of police harassment by another bike rider and the police investigated and the local police inspector did an audit and reported there was no case to answer as the Sargent had never booked the rider for anything ever.
The inspector was asked by the brief if he would check who was the partner in the car on the day that every ticket was issued.
A half hour of roster checking was done and the Inspector changed his tune.
A week later the Sargent was transferred.
