Old myth put around by some of the solo guys ;)

If you look at a few of the parts on the 681 they actually have the Dolmar logo on them, (eg. clutch) and Dolmar/Makita supply the big 90cc Solo.

No sorry Rick my clutch on my 681 does NOT have a Dolmar logo on it......l even took it apart to check my facts even though l knew l was wasting my time. Yes you are correct about the 90cc saw. The 681 is the largest saw they now produce. lf you got a 681 with dolmar parts well l'm sorry for you but somthing tells me you don't have one....do you Rick?:chainsaw:

Thanks for the welcome guys. Yes going to turn this macrocarpa into firewood and the saw is a MS880.

So far taken out 8 trailer loads of rings and haven't really scratched the surface. Hard on gear though but we have been lucky enuff to have the lend of a Duetz tractor to use to load our trailers.

I had to walk out Neil I could picture my self strangling these two arse holes till they drew there last breath. The best part was when I left to go home and they said you can't go you need to finish this job I said sorry I have other commitments and I don't get over time. then said your not so smug and farking smart now are you as three supposedly qualified mechanics stood around the disassembled falcon park brake wondering how it goes together.

I have never been so pissed off in a work place in my entire life it was just ordinary the boss goes away and these sword swallowers run riot

Sorry matty 2,,, there is only so much a man can put up with, just be carefull how you deal with those dick wakers, they will run and cry fowl.

I don't recognise that saw model, is it a MS361?

:D

Welcome to the site also!

hahaha, Rudi, its his biggest brother the 880.

had a nice demo day today at Dungog, where a very large gathering took place this weekend of vintage tractors.

Post ripping and speed demonstrations, great fun and good practice for the real stuff next weekend.

Fairynuff, a couple of the Solo 681 runners on AS reported a few Dolmar parts when it arrived in the US.

FWIW I'd happily run a 681, although the air filter, like the standard 64/73/7900 Makita's is inadequate for Aussie timber. (Filter oil fixes this) Some of their retail spare prices here are silly though, eg. that air filter when I enquired a couple of years ago.
One of the old firewood cutters around here runs two and loves them.

Lol I can just imagine it

Also how safe are the alloy wedges on chains? I was told they don't damage the chain at all but wasn't convinced.

good morning members,,, experiencing phone rage. My nocia was replace fri by a new Telstra T96, simular simple phone but it stoped last night and shows a grey screen. I tried to switch off and restart but it won't let me so I removed the battery, but it back and same grey screen.... any suggestion besides smashing the thing.

edit,,, the instructions don't have a trouble shooting section.

The first thing l did was get rid of the nylon euro style filter and put a factory flocked one in. That made a huge difference but they are more like a husky style filter setup & l'd much prefer a stihl HD2 style setup for sure. You would think in 2014 OPE manufacturer's would know how to stop dust entering a chainsaw but then again we are still tuning carbs. Well many of us are anyway.

Taken 12 trailer loads of rings out so far, stihl plenty left. Going to be stockpiling our own firewood onto next season.

The bad part is we need 2 new 24'' bars a new tyre for 1 of the trailers, and quite a few chains. Arggggggggggggg

Got a 42'' for the 88 just no-one can pick it up:)

Going to buy a heap of bars and chains this week for everything, you guys reckon a MS660 will drive a 36'' alright?

I run a 30'' with skip chain easy as.

Anyone know where to get stihl chain online, delivered to NZ. $88 for a 25'' chain from the local dealer
