Gas cap Vent

I finally got my old Sears / David Bradley 917.60005 saw running:

I think I'm missing a vent in the gas cap:

It apears that there is something missing in the center. The vent hole goes all the way through with nothing blocking it. The saw runs great, but only when you hold your finger over the vent hole. Also, gas comes out of the top when it is running.

Can anyone tell me what goes there, and does anyone have the piece I am missing, or a spare gas cap?

There are many models that are all similar, I think any one would work

I have lots of things to trade, or green stuff.

Nice refurb.!

Find a fuel cap from a Walmart type Poulan and remove the star washer and duckbill. Drill the Bradley cap from the bottom the same dia. as the Poulan cap and press in your new vent.

Here is a parts/project saw Sears d-44 it was made by Tecumseh Power products by info given to me. The sears number is in the pic 917.351040. It has 110psi by my gauge. The cylinder still has cross hatching on the back side but the upper side of the piston has some transfer. It looks like the parts are there but there is no spark right now. It looks like someone tried to seal the tank with epoxy of some type.

Primarily I am looking for bar plates, a handlebar and 16" chain for a Mcculloch 10-10 or

Secondarily a Clutch cover, recoil side cover, air cleaner cover and handlebar for a Homelite SXL-AO. The Homelite saw runs good but it has a lot of cracked pieces.

Keith I think I can hook you up with all those SXL-AO parts. Don't think I have any 'perfect' parts, but I believe I have good 'un-cracked' examples of each part on your list here. Not really interested in the D-44 however. IIRC you recently posted something that I was interested in...........................but dammit I can't remember what it was. Wasn't part of our recent back-and-forth emails. Was in one of your posts on AS some time in the last week or so. Now I need to find the post so I can refresh my feeble memory.....:msp_confused:

Keith - I did get your PM but haven't been on line much. I have used bar plates and can find a NOS handle, how many DL for your chain? If you have a rim type drum and solid nose bar I could set you up with an original Mc. 354 chain & sprocket. PM again if you are interested.

The only thing that I am thinking is an Echo 452VL? but I would not have thought you would have interest in Japanese magnesium?

Bar plates would be great it leaks alot of oil around the bar without them. Nos handle is not necessary for me. I have the handle but it looks bent out of shape to me on the recoil side. The chain would be 16" 3/8 70dl. I think that this is a spur sprocket. The 354 chain would be hard to replace so I would think 3/8 would be best to stick with.

after a long and arduous process i've finally determined the carb on my poulan pp180 is a pos. i've rebuilt it, cleaned it several times in a usc, replaced the welch plug, used two cans of carb cleaner and lots of compressed air. i've adusted the h and l screws all the way from closed to almost falling out. it will start and run for about 3 - 5 seconds and then die. after 3 -4 pulls it will start again, ad infinitum. while sitting it leaks all the fuel. i replaced it with a known working carb and it starts and runs as designed so i know its the carb.
bottom line - i'm looking for a walbro wt-20 carb. working would be great. got stuff and non-gold backed green paper to trade.

I searched your posts late last night after work. Only thing close that I can think of is the 72DL 3/8" chain loop you mentioned in an earlier post. Not sure that was it either. Wasn't the Echo. They're not my thing. The real problem is that I've got C.R.S. When you have that you Can't Remember ####. Next stage is C.R.A.F.T. That's when you Can't Remember A ####ing Thing....:help:

I'll pull those Homelite parts this weekend and send you pics. We can figure things out then. I may also have one 10-series bar plate too (and maybe a 60DL 3/8-.050G loop). Will dig through the box this weekend, as long as I don't get sidetracked by another family adventure....

Those damn WT/WA carbs will do that sometimes Jerry. It is indeed time to stop screwing with that carb and get another...:msp_thumbup:

trades pending. Thanks everyone.

Any interest in these. I will be needing some parts for a couple of saws that I have not gotten to yet. But just haven't made a list yet.

I have enough stuff around here now that I really don't want to go into these. The 1-43 had spark I though. Both cylinders look good and comrpession feels good. Both have tilly carbs on them.

I for sure think they could be runners. The 1-40 has white death on the starter cover and the 1-43 starter is sticky and will need work. The rest mould be typical feul system etc. Clean points.

80ccs of ear busting fun right here

I picked up this old Monkey Ward saw. I believe it's a Mono SL-146, at least according to Mike Acre's site.
I was wondering how much luck I would have finding an air filter cover for it?
I don't think it will take much to get it running. Anyone know much about these?
