Easy to check the coil. Set VOM to 1K ohm and test between points lead and ground wire, and between spark plug contact and ground wire should wiggle the needle down to the 50-200 end.

Both coils I have, have gone open circuit.

Sorry, no 101 type spikes but I have one bookmarked on the 'bay. About ready to cut down one off the C5 carcass to fit.

I'll pull the flywheel on the carcass and test the coil this weekend. Don't sweat the spikeset. Won't need it for a while (and I've got that ebay listing in my watch list too).:D

Thanks Randy, Todd,

The saw will arrive this week, I will know then what else if anything may be required.

I should have the starter cover with the Mac logo, I will try to remember to post some photo's when I am home again later this week.

Mark

fixed it for ya.

I'll have to make a call to the Mac parts guy tomorrow to acquire a gasket kit for the 790. (hopefully I remember)

Here is a parts/project saw Sears d-44 it was made by Tecumseh Power products by info given to me. The sears number is in the pic 917.351040. It has 110psi by my gauge. The cylinder still has cross hatching on the back side but the upper side of the piston has some transfer. It looks like the parts are there but there is no spark right now. It looks like someone tried to seal the tank with epoxy of some type.

Anybody want this saw? I had one offer but they have not responded since.

I have a 901 that needs a good home, just pay shipping. I think everything is there. Flywheel is the only thing that is damaged and not really usable. The P&C came from Johnny (Roanoker) from an 800 but it should fit. More pics available upon request.

Day-um. If I didn't already have an XL800 I'd jump on it. Points ignition is a plus.

Yup, 800 p&c will make him 82cc.

Chainsawlady has new flywheels for that series, very reasonable.

Looking to see if someone has a crankshaft for a Remington GL-7.

Flywheel was run loose and the keyway is wallowed badly.

Short of making a special key and using an end mill to clean up the keyway in the crank the GL-7 I got from Mark H. is dead issue.

Hate to see it become a parts saw.

It'd be a bit of a PITA since you'd have to tear it down, but you could pull the crank and have a shop repair it and cut a new key way. Shouldn't be horribly expensive. Obviously, I'd only do that if I couldn't find a crank at all or for a price less than the machine shop charges for a repair.

I estimate it would take four or five hours machinest time to do the crank and key. It would be very expensive.

You cannot just cut a new keyway. Ignition timing you know.

Now, if I had an endmill.............................................................................

Wouldn't you just cut both to match, the crank and the flywheel?

I know that's over simplifying and won't be cheap but, it's doable.

Have you tried running it without the key? Is the taper shot also?

Keyway in the magnet wheel is wallowed, flywheel/fanwheel keyway is wallowed besides the crank keyway.

Best, and most durable, fix is to mill crank keyway to 3/16" wide and broach magnet and fan wheels to 3/16" and hope they all clean up.

I have my Pro 88 all squared away and running so I don't really need another 105cc Remington.

Carl.

Looks like you may need a thumb button for the 3200's manual oiler..........unless you like the rustic wood look. May be able to use a button from an XL-12.

I still haven't pulled the coils from my two parts C-5's. I'll pull them and test them to see if either is good. If one's good, I'll trade it (and a condensor) to you for a good XL101-104 or XL-925 manual oiler plunger thumb button (or whole plunger assembly). My SXL-925 needs a button, and the button (and plunger assembly) are the same for XL101-104 and SXL-925 series saws according to my IPL's. My manual oiler plunger works fine, but the button's missing....
