Well I like to keep extra cylinders of saws around. Enjoy your dyno. I hope you guys enjoyed the thread. Someone else can go buy a 362cm and put it on your dyno and port it. I've got other saws to build and I've had my fill of the "Dyno koolaid"

I just back it up cause you keep bashing it.

What's your problem with the dyno?

Dyno koolaid.. LOL..

I like grape.

What do you mean ''enjoyed''.. That means past tence. Are you giving up?? Why y'all giving this kid s&%$ about dynos? If he wanted one, I'm sure he would use one or build one, same goes for the other builders.. It seems they have no use for them.

LOL Let's make fun of science and data hahahahaha!!!! Empirical observation is for people who weren't born knowing everything.

Not where I was going with that.
I actually asked earlier how the results were interpetated & calculated because I was interested. But I could care less now if this is the attitude about it. Let the guy do his thing without pushing your opinions about dynos on him is all I'm saying. If he don't want to use one who cares, he wasn't bashing anything about them in this thread.

Thank you. I was having a hard time finding a way to say that.

Next time you see a logger, ask him to show the next tree he cuts his dyno spread sheet and see
If he doesn't laugh at you.
I dont give any fancy spread sheet. The dyno is for me and to advance my knowledge on what mods work and what doesnt work. It's only used to make the final product. You dont get any fancy spread sheet with your new car either but it's good to know someone dyno tested the engine over and over to find the perfect tune.

Moody, don't let the peanut gallery get you down, there are a lot of us out here interested in seeing the results of your work, even if we do make annoying suggestions now and then. Keep it going, and remember, often the difference between success and failure is persistence.

I'm sure a new chain and new piece of wood (of the same kind and size) is acceptable. I mean, were not trying to put a man on the moon here, we just want to see some good saw videos.

Best of Luck,
MustangMike

Oh boy. I've been waiting a long time to see these two saws compared.

We got off to a good start but looks like things aren't working out too well now. I sure don't know enough about anything to try this but sure enjoy reading the threads. Hope things work out.

I'm not quitting the site. I'm not quitting anything. I'd love to share the progress of the saw. But it's not worth the hassle of trying to stay on topic and provide insight if dyno seems to be of more interest to people. I'm going to run the saw for a couple of days and then I'll continue to post my steps. But I'm done with the dyno talk. I'm not in interested in it. My concentration is on the saw. It takes more time than most can imagine to do threads like these. I don't mind a little off topic chat or talk about saws. This is a chainsaw thread and I expect that. If anyone has or wants any information about the dyno there's a thread. Talk about it there. When I'm done with the saw then we can discuss how it may/or may not have helped me.

Ok moody. I'm serious about how I like your thread. I don't want to talk dyno anymore either but I feel I have to because you keep bashing it. Carry in Moody. I didnt bring the dyno into this thread. I'm truly sorry and I'll shut up about the dyno. Let's talk 362! So did that nail stop things or did the saw not perform as planned?

The saw is set up as the 3rd step right now. The squish is set at .020 and I did transfer work. The saw runs well but I'm not done. On the OE version i could : delete the gasket cut .007-.0010 out of the band, advance timing and do transfer work and get sizeable gains. This saw seems to have picked well on chain speed with those mods (minus the timing advance) but didn't pick up sizeable amount of torque. Part of that is due to lack of run time. So I'm going to put a couple more tanks through it and see if anything changes. I'll post a video of it running a 24 inch b&c this afternoon to satisfy the video needs until I get a better idea of where it's at. I will say that this saw runs much like a ported 361 as is. Very throaty and nice rpms. I'm thoroughly enjoying the task of finding gains in this saw.

I'm anxious to see Moody's posts, but I also realize what he is doing (especially when it is the first time for this model) takes time and I will be patient until he is ready to share his results. I would not want to be pressured for real time updates when I'm doing something for the first time. Sharing the steps necessary after you have accomplished your goal is much more satisfying.

That said, if anyone has any information about how a 362 C-M responds to more modest muffler porting, I would love to hear about it. I think these new strato port saws respond far differently than their older counterparts.

Hey Justin what B/C do you have on the 362?
The reason I ask because I have a NIB Stihl RSC 72 dl chain I can send you to test with than you can send it back with my P/C you have.

Moody, I don't have any where near your experience with this stuff, but sometimes even an amateur comes up with a good idea. Do you think if you restricted the muffler a little it would pick up the torque? Just a suggestion that may be worth trying.

Good point. Some saws need more back pressure than others. I'm thinking of making pipes for mufflers that I could thread a pipe out of a bushing. A washer with different size holes could be placed in the bushing with the treaded pipe holding it in. Swap washers and compare.

I've got some tree work done and the chain is going on the grinder. No worries there I'll hand file it as close to the original as I can.
