I joined this site in November and had (1) Stihl 032 and (1) 044. For Christmas bought the wife a New ms 260 pro she loves it. Today I come home and find my wife got me a used 064 brand new 32" bar and chain runs good. Around Wednesday an 066 should show up and we're going to the Stihl shop to pick up a baby saw brand new. Plan on having the 066 stage II modded. Before I joined this site I was content with 2 saws had thought a big one would be fun but now look and my wife just helps string me out. I guess I will make it some how. Help MEEEEE

just like a sawdrug addiction

Now he has his wife "using" too. LOL How lucky can this man get? Now they lie awake at night trying to figure how how they can either grow their own saw drugs. or if there is maybe a recipe on the net..Thinking surely something over the counter we can go all over town and buy a little here, and a little there.. No one will be the wiser. One stihl dealer for a crank case, another for a jug and piston, New full wrap handle from the dealer in the next town that sells out of his garage.
"Hey Honey" he says. If we can build our own or maybe buy some bad saw drugs and fix em up to make em good sawdrugs again..We might be able to make some side money to support our habit.
I can see in a few years. They will have signs along the highway. Saying SawDrug 720 miles, then further down the road Saw drug, 600 miles. They will be everywhere, All men will be stopping in for a looksee.(surely everyone is familiar with the Wal Drug store I am referring to)
\ He is a very lucky man to have a wife that enjoys the hobby as much as he does. Congrats.

Do you know what a monkey grip is?
How about hearing protection? That stage 2 will permanently damage your hearing in just a few seconds without it.
I know from reading and seeing pictures on this site, there are a lot of permanent disabilities caused by ignorance or complacency. At least safety up your wife, and have her read and understand an owners manual.

It gets MUCH worse.... I have three AS guys comming over this morning to get stuff fixed, pick parts up.... and my "finds" keep building up... I need bigger shop, more time...

As for your MS660... I'd just run it a while and see if it meets your needs before jumping into modding... At least run out the warranty period (90 days). Maybe pick up a dual port muffer front in a month or two...

Its a used 066 newer model. My wife got me an 064 that I'm going to refurbish so the 066 will be my ultimate big saw. I have some 40" plus work to do so I am looking at running 42-50 inch bar. the 064 32-36" and the 044 for most normal use.

I agree...he's an admitted addict.....bks, you need that big boy!

but my bud who bought my old red light special 066 runs a 42 on it, and she gets the job done....modded the "King of Saws" should easily pull a 120......

......

and when it does, bks, we gotta see pics of the mtngal runnin' it!! just tell her to put the PPE on AFTER the photo shoot....

Andy's right, since it already has the dual port cover, modding won't gain you a whole lot. The 066 dual port is one of the highest hp to weight saws ever, and, according to retired saw builder Ken Dunn, experiences less gains after modding than other saws, prolly because it is a darned good design.

I'm jealous, as my 066 was stolen, and a few years back I sold my red lighter to a bud for $175.00....did I say he's a good bud?

So, I'se in da market for another one, even though the word is the 395 wins when both are modded...but it's heavier....
