I think that's Gord who is a regular on the Buzz, not sure if he lurks on arboristsite though. He's from Gibson's BC, and a bad ass mofo for sure.

I know both Gord and Graham personally. Gord is a great young climber, but Graeme, imo, has done things that 99% of us can ony dream of.

When he was in Seattle in 2002, he came out to my jobsite, and wrecked a 120 foot fir....I think he put my spurs on over his tennis shoes.....I handed him a 335 Husky.....perfect for limbing a fir.But he typically climbs with a Stihl 460. Then, we went in the customer's house and watched a 30minute video of his incredible work. Then he left straight for the airport and home.

The Fir is impressive just because of the size and alot of time on the spikes but that other tree that Graham is in, is just sick!
Take some balls of steel to climb to the top of a tree that rotten and work it down. And from what I've seen it's a regular occurance for him.
Was that a Euc he was in? I don't know how they get when dead but it looked pretty damn chalky and barely holding together. No thanks.

I think most people from the SSC are bad ass.

The guys I work with now and then when I am over building mountain bike trails with the S-Crew are all bat #### crazy.

Both videos are wicked!

In my dreams would I ever get the chance to spur a Fir that large.

If you look close at one of Grahms video's he is wearing a resperator because of the dust. Climbing and chuncking down a dead tall tree like that is just unreal.

Well I make a motion on the floor to nominate both Gord and Graeme as official members of the Bad Ass Tree Climbers Club and further suggest that seconds and new nomination can only be made by fellow climbers.

Do I hear a second?

One question on the fir takedown on the golf course. If they were able/allowed to take the tree down by bombing it down with little regard for the grounds below, why not just drop the entire tree in one drop? No climbing and one hell of a BOOM! Seems much easier?

they had to leave 50ft spar for the birds...

My guess would be damage control. If that thing landed on the fairway anywhere, it would have most likely done more damage then the removal cost (if you include lost of revenue from losing a playable hole). Thats part of what makes it more impressive. The one conseavable spot he has to limit damage is bombing everthing on to that dirt road and he does a good job of it. Granted the tree seems to lean in that direction. But at that height and weight, nothing is certain and he does a good job of getting it were he wants it.

Visual image of his ground guys running around with one of them little divot tools attempting to repair the fairway afterwards is hilarious.

I've grounded for Gord. Bad ass mofo is not the term you would use to describe him. He is one of the most gentle nice people you could meet. Also happens to be very strong.

He would lift rounds off the top of the tree he was blocking down that two of us could barely handle on the ground.

We are justifiably proud of Graeme's work here in Australia but in fairness the work on that fir tree was a step above anything most climbers, including me, would ever experience.

Stihl-o-matic I move we accept the motion and install both these climbers as members of the exclusive "my balls are bigger than yours" club.

Impressive. I have climbed trees that big windfirming on the Charlottes, but never chunked anything down that big. No second chance for him, not like you can push it off with your hands.

Then with no objections I think its official Gord and Graeme are true member of The Gigantis Testiculis Club.

I think it should be duely noted that this club is in recognition of Modern Tree Climbers and in no way should distract from the zepplin sized nuts the old timers had dropping trees like the one Gord was in with hand tools.
