Nothing wrong with an Echo
but to expect to go from a stock 365 special to any stock Echo and not feel disappointment isn’t realistic
James’ saw has a lot of non-stock in it that makes it better, but you can’t buy it that way at the store and until Echo does something about the fit/finish/feel of their products they will not compete in my opinion

The 60cc and down Echo's aren't bad. But above that are a waist of time. My next saw will be an 046 or 7900. And yes you definitely can't by a copy of the Del saw from the factory.

Not familiar with regs about ordering from USA and shipping to Canada, but this is about the best deal I've seen on a 70cc saw in a long time.

The shop is 20 minutes from my house, done a lot of business with him, no problem recommending buying from him in the least. When I was there 2 weeks ago, he had about 30 left. May snag one myself only because I'm a sucker for heated handles.

Ok guys,.. it's time for me to get a new 60-70cc saw,... I have been using a 365 Husqvarna for the past 20 years, and it has been an amazing reliable working saw, but it is starting to get tired, so I am planning to replace it but can't really make up my mind what I should replace it with. I have narrowed my choices down to a few good ones.....

..Jonsered cs 2066
..Jonsered cs 2172
..Husqvarna 562 xp
..Husqvarna 372 xp
..Stihl ms 362

I know the 2066 and the 562 are basically the same saw,... same goes for the 2172 and the 372,.. but was wondering if maybe there is some under laying pros or cons between them that some of you guys may know or have experienced.
To be honest I am a little skeptical of the newer self adjusting "computerized" saws, but I'm sure they are fine. I have had a little hands on with the 562xp and it was one great working saw.
I have very little to no experience with Stihl so some info, pros and cons compared to Husqvarna and Jonsered, would be great.
The older school style 2172 and 372 strike me to be more reliable than the computerized 2066, 562, 362,..... Am I wrong in thinking this way.. probably,.... so any advise or suggestions from your experience would be great.

What part of the province are you cutting in? Echo`s are a non entity around here, stay far away from them. Husqvarna and Stihl are the saws to own in this province, sales,parts, service all close by. I prefer Stihl myself but not the 362 for a good reliable saw, they have some issues. The 044 and MS 440 were legendary, the 441 is good saw but somewhat overweight for power output. A good regular carbed Husky may just still fill your cutting needs.

Yup that is a good price, ..but exchange plus shipping plus taxes and duty would drive the price to atleast $1300... exchange on money alone puts it to $994..lol..but thanks anyway.

Whoa,..shipping a new chainsaw from the States through Customs to here, better have really deep pockets...

I am just outside Dartmouth, Eastern Shore, we cut both hardwoods and softwood here. The newer spring AV saws are very nice to use all day long,heated handles a nice bonus as well.

I believe they got most of that sorted with the Rev II.

All newer ES bars need the bar hole cleaned up slightly with a dremel so the oil flows better.

My boss has two and they have been very reliable and have been worked hard on selective thinning and storm damage. Non-plantation Spruce up to 30"dbh. I've made this point before and i'll continue making it, running anything bigger than a 20" bar on a stock 60cc saw is counter productive. There simply not designed to run anything bigger. You just end up putting massive pressure on the powerhead especially the oil pump. If you want to run a 24/25" bar for example buy a Husky 372xp/576 or a Stihl 441/461.

I like my 362, it has around 300 hours on it now, its on its second carb and third ignition module. No problems at all with the P&C or AV so far. I can`t comment on the newest 362Mtronic saws, havn`t changed over to them yet. My dealer told me there was a rash of problems with them early on with solenoids and keeping the saws tuned with the variable temps and humidity we get here. Stihl may have got this sorted out by now but its still to early for me to sink money into unreliable technology, old school thinking tells me to wait and run my reliable saws, no need to get into the newest technology until its proven reliable.

I couldn't make up my mind, (other than I eliminated the ms 362 Stihl from my list), so I decided to let price dictate my decision,.. after calling the only Jonsered dealer and every Husqvarna dealer within a hundred miles each side of me, It turns out that the 562xp was the cheapest between the 365, 372xp 562xp,.... during my price comparing I found a Husky dealer that had the 562xp for $749+tax,.. which was any where from $110 to $200 cheaper than the other dealers, so it was a no brainer,..I planed to go get the 562xp,... but here's the kicker,... I was telling a guy at work about the deal I found,.. he then informed me that he had just got a smoking deal on a lightly/slightly used, next to new 372xp xt that had only cut 1 to 2 cord of wood,... he offered it to me for $500,...I don't really need a 372, the 562 would do me fine,.. but $500 for a $1200 saw is a hell of a deal,....

.....what would you guys do??

Good deal if the saw is as stated, will last most people a lifetime unless you are a full time pulp cutter...

Seems like a pretty decent deal if it's actually that little used. Not deal of a lifetime exactly, but pretty good. It's not a $1200 saw though. I think you can get a 395xp for that price.

The 562 would be nice if it's your only saw, being that it's lighter for limbing, but like the Pioneerguy said, that would be an awesome deal on the 372. My 2172 is easily my favorite saw. It would save you some money, and you did say that you weren't thrilled about autotune.

My boss just got a 562 last fall. I made a few cuts with it. I'm sure you'd be happy with one.

The 562xp list price is $949 at every dealer around here except for the one that quoted me $749... things are not cheap here in Canada,... too many idiots running the Country.

I have a 346xp, (love that little saw), that I use for smaller stuff,... and my old 365 I always use on bigger stuff like logs once in awhile or maple for my firewood.
I have handled the 562 a little and I was very impressed by it's performance,.. it is probably the better saw for my use these days, but if the 372 for $500 is as good as this guy says it is than I think I would be stupid to walk away from it,... problem is,.. second hand saws make me nervous,... as we all know it doesn't take much carelessness with fuel mixtures to take out the top end. The guy that has it right now doesn't worry me in the least, he is a true chainsaw guy,... what does worry me is not knowing what the guy was like that owned it before him.

Pull the muffler if you can to check for scoring, and look it over good, but that'd be a great saw. After it gets too heavy, scrounge up some cash for a 545, 550, or 346 to go with it.
