Take the 100.00$$ , buy a clutch switch install it , then take 100.00$$ out of your pocket and give it to him , it wont be the same $$ he gave you (It's your truck and the switch should be in the circuit ). It would have sucked to be bounced off the tailgate and have been driven over by your own truck  .

hey dan, i woodent have taken it except i warned him not to turn the ignition forward as it has no clutch switch and will start very easy.

I have a real smart Chesapeake that when I am cutting and say "lookout"! He runs like hell. After the tree is down ,he attacks it.

I hear ya but to a non driver it just doesn't mean the same thing and they may not have the feel for the start position of the tumbler .
Here in N.S. disabling the switch would fail a motor vehicle inspection and I know of a service shop that had a car launch into a hoist with a car on it (try and get a car sandwich apart) which was a very bad day for the mechanic and the owner .

Cause and effect .

My 85 Dodge doesn't have a clutch safety switch. I don't believe that they were put on from the factory so it wasn't removed.

Does anyone know when safety switches were added to the clutch?

close call

I was doing some custom cutting for a camp manager that I know. I had to fell this dead birch tree in between two posts that were part of a backstop at a kickball field. I faced the tree, and was about to put in my back cut when he stopped me and said you probably should move your truck. I thought "there's no way the tree is going to land there, but OK", so I moved it. Long story short, the tree went 25 degrees to the left of where I wanted it- right where the truck was. I was glad that I moved it! Especially since it was my brother's truck! Here it is.
