Big screwdriver

Mine is an old S-K I got from the auto shop at my high school. I use it to pop off flywheels. Cant beat a quality scredriver you know wont "surprise" you under a load.

Heres my old Kennedy fold out tool box. It was my grandfathers. Its in great shape. He made a socket holder for it you can see in the second pick. Also got it loaded with a bunch of nice tools including the S-K sockets, a nice tap and die set in a case. I keep my "specialty" tools in here. My Dremel, electronics tools and punch set among other suff.

Plastic welder & cylinder hone

Picked up a couple possibly-useful tools today at a yard sale. First up is something I've NEVER seen, an actual plastic welding machine:

I dunno, I thought it might come in handy someday to fix some hard-to-find saw plastic. Hopefully it works - the guy said it did, so if it doesn't, at least I know where he lives!

I also picked up this cylinder hone:

Should be useful. It won't work on smaller saws but looks like it goes down to ~50mm or so.

Plastic Welder

I have an attachment for my Steinel heat gun (http://www.steinel.net/products/heatguns/index.cfm) that lets me weld some plastics. Have also seen a version, similar to yours that hooks up to an air compressor - both of these weld with heated air to heat the rod and the material being welded. Yours appears to work by heating the rod only(?) as it says 'airless'.

Jerry, that is great news!I would definitely appreciate pictures of those setup's!I think they are special clamps that attach to the ferrules are they not?Not just regular hose clamps.
Would you happen to have an owners manual that you could copy?
Many Thanks
Lawrence

My 2 prestolites on tanks, use them for plumbing soldering mostly these days.

I've never seen an acetylene-only torch before... Don't they throw horrible black smoke?

The older plumbers that I worked with called them," mapp" but I really don`t know what the actual gas is that they fill the cylinders with, it burns nice and clean, like propane but hotter.

Ah yes, MAPP gas is pretty good. It can throw black smoke too, but not as bad. I have a little Bernz mini-torch set that fits the small bottles you can get at CT etc, and it can take acetylene, propane, or MAPP, but works best with MAPP.

I need to get one of the tanks filled again soon so I will ask them what specifically is in them for a gas mix. They also sell the torches there and if I can get a manual I will and send it to Lawrence.

•MAPP gas is liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) mixed with methylacetylene-propadiene. In Australia, it is known as RazorGas.
I hit the EASY button!!

Thanks, that is very good to know, I am not certain that "MAPP"is what is used in the cylinders but it is what the older tradesmen called it.

Joe that toolbox was made right here in my home town. I have 6 people in my family on my mothers side that is retired from that company. 2 of which are my grandmother and my greatgrandmother. I could name 50 people who either work or have worked in that factory. Sad part is Kennedy has pretty much sold out and moved to mexico like the rest of the factories in this town. They still have 1 small Kennedy plant here though.

Wow. That is cool to know, maybe one of you family members even put this box together. I dont know much about it other than it was my grandfather's. Id put at around 30-35 years old. It seems like a quality piece of equipment. Itll be around long after me Im sure!

We have discussed battery powered tools before so I thought I would add these . I was about to toss these 2 drill sets as the batteries were not taking or holding a charge. They are NICD batteries and are 5 years old, they have been used a lot but always kept charged up. This year however they would not take a charge and would only run the drill 15-20 seconds then just about stop.

Last Thursday I actually carried them out with the trash and set them curbside but as I turned to walk away I just could not leave them there and took them back to my tool room.
Friday night I had a brain wave and thought I should try one more time to get thyem to take a longer recharge. My idea has worked so well that they hold as good or even better charge than when I bought them.
I will wait to see if others have possibly tried what I thought up before releasing any further details.
