Yeah, for sure, but this is a little more consumer-oriented than stuff I've seen before. But I'm sure I haven't seen everything there is. A guy my dad worked with years ago started an automotive sign/decal/pinstripe business since, and he had a huge one that could do some really neat stuff.

How ya liking the heat, Bob? Guess it's same old same old for you though... Hit 35°C today at the mill; I'm exhausted now.

Ya, its been very hot here too Brad, killed me yesterday working outside.

You guys get the humidity with the heat... Up here we're lucky to see 25-30% on a hot day like today. I worked some OT over in the sawmill today running the infeed decks and barker/canter/edger line, and The Cat 966C grapple loaders were boiling over out in the logyard with the 35° heat. The loaderman would bring me a load or two of logs and then have to sit for a few minutes to let 'er cool down. So I ended up waiting for wood on the odd occasion, but that didn't bother me at all... just sit back and listen to the radio. Glad to have the AC in the booth at that job for sure, though it still only makes it a bit more bearable, not comfortable. No way I'd pull voluntary OT shifts if I had to work out in the heat getting dirty on a day like today!

Bob - I've never been over that way for Stampede time, but it always looks like a madhouse on TV. The C-Train is always an adventure though! I've seen some pretty interesting sights late at night on those trains... Our stampede was actually a bit more sedate than usual; I guess a recession will do that though. I was otherwise engaged and couldn't make it to the parade, but people said that it was a bit longer than usual even though town wasn't as busy.

It's going to take you forever to go through all the pics you've taken on this trip! Won't be long until you wear your shutter out at this pace!

PS - did you know that there is a Williams Lake Stampede song? A couple weeks ago I recorded this off an LP I paid quite a mint for a few years back just to get it:

<object width="480" height="385"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/4czVmH7HyW8&amp;hl=en_US&amp;fs=1"></param><param name="allowFullScreen" value="true"></param><param name="allowscriptaccess" value="always"></param><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/4czVmH7HyW8&amp;hl=en_US&amp;fs=1" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowscriptaccess="always" allowfullscreen="true" width="480" height="385"></embed></object>

On the same record there's also "The Calgary Song":

I was quite impressed with the Calgary parade. Not too many political and commercial floats and what there were were mostly interesting and/or funny. I thought there would be more "pizazz and hype" and more dancing girls. Apart from not many dancing girls, I like the way they included people like the vets, olympians, ethnics and old timers - mens and women etc. I also like

In 2002 when I spent 9 months in Europe I took 6000 digital photos, so 8000 photos in just 3 months is a bit of a headache. What I have learned over the years is I still do not take enough. I have never come back from an outing, holiday or weekend and said to myself, " I should have taken less photos".
Because of the volume of photos I have become quite systematic about managing them. Every night after shooting a heap of them I off load them onto my laptop and delete the duds. Then I break them up into directories of dates and places. Make a small (eg 10) best of each set and resize these into 1024 pixel wide and send these to friends and relatives. Every week or so I burn a DVD and send them back to myself in Oz. Depending on how much time I have I also process some of the panoramas over the next few days - otherwise I rarely will end up doing them

Thanks for the links - I played it thru several times this morning to get me in the mood for our visit today to the stampede. Normally if I run across anything C&W on the radio or TV my first reaction is to switch stations but somehow here it seems OK.

Bob, if you want dancing girls, you need to make a stop at the "French Maid" over there... The wife might not like it so much though!

Ya I've been meaning to start doing stuff like that... I have I don't know how many gigs of photos kicking around all unorganized. And it's not that I don't have the software to do it; I just don't know where to start at this point!

I couldn't agree more, but I grew up listening to that (and a lot more country music that I still DO hate) with my old man, so it's more sentimental than anything I guess.

Have fun over the weekend!

I have personally found, that the older the hand-tool, the better. So flea markets, garage sales, estate sales, auctions, pawn shops, farmers markets, etc, lend themselves to being a good spot to find quality tools.
Anyone want to trade me a good saw for these?

About 300 wrenches and I would guess 125 pounds worth, so shipping might be an issue.

They came from several sources. I think the ones in the bottom picture came from Beiler's sale in New Holland, PA a number of years ago. Most of the ones in the top pictures were bought at an auction in Connecticut about 5 years ago. I also have another 2-3 dozen wrenches on display in my "museum" in my basement. These are the more unusual ones as well as the early Ford's IHC's, etc.

Here are a couple of pictures of some of my other tool collections.

What a great old collection! I have quite a few wrenches like you have pictured there. . . Not near as many though. I have three brace & bits, but they're in very nice condition.

These braces are just the ones I was trying to unload at our community yard sale a couple of months ago. I used the pictures for CL ads in the week before the sale to try and drum up foot traffic.

Man, if I need a hand saw or swede saw, I sure know were to look!!Those hand saws on the right side of the picture really look primitive. My family used to have 4acres east of where I am now, the garage wall had those big old two man crosscut saws for falling old growth years ago.Looks like your quite set as far as braces go too.

Not everything you see was in it, most of the tools were mine, but there was three or four sets of snap-on wrenches, a bunch of ratchets, extensions, screwdrivers etc etc. all snap-on.

I gave $1200 for it which was a hell of a deal IMO. I did make sure it wasn't stolen first.

All these air tools were in it however, plus some that I sold. All snap-on or blue point.

This is a Kennedy tool box I got at the flea market for $10. I walked up and some guy was ####ering over 10 bucks for this nice box !! I just handed the guy $10 and took the box, never said a word, left the other guy standing there kicking his arse.
