I also thought a biopsy was just a partial removal of tissue for examination. If that's the case, they have enough tissue there for every lab on the planet to examine.

I heard that it was actually growing off of his tissue. If he implanted it there himself that would be odd. And it wouldn't get to where it is if he swallowed it. Would it?

problem #1 as someone stated no light. You have green needles. The green in plants comes from photosynthesis

Problem #2 the the base of it is sticking out, which means it has no roots and is growing backwards (needles pointing wrong way)

Problem #3 why did I get in to this conversation in the first place... grrrrrrrrrr

I actually put a bid in to fell the tree in question,
the guy thought i was too dear and opted for some local hack coz he was half the price, the hack just made a bloody mess, that will teach him for next time.

Total hoax. The gf came home and told me about this story and it was fishy then. After seeing the pics I know it's a hoax, plain and simple. He may have inhaled the thing, which is doubtful, but he sure didn't grow it inside his lung.

If he swallowed it, it would be in his stomach. But i don't see how it's possible to in-hale something that large and "prickly" on accident. Unless the guy is a complete moron and just looking for some attention and $$$

Impossible! The root flare was way too deep, no mulch layer, etc. I think they are just needling us. The fake species - Pinus alveolis - should have been a dead give away too.
