If you want some good winter's reading, this is a blog I like checking periodically:

http://amishamerica.typepad.com/amish_america/

The author does a great job documenting the diversity of Amish in the U.S. If I recall correctly, he took a job in college as a door-to-door salesman of religious books and part of his territory included an Amish community which is where he first got interested in them. He's gone on to study and write about them.

The Amish are humans, and like all humans, some are skilled, others are not. Just because someone is Amish does not make them an automatically skilled craftsman. I have seen some pretty poor and unsafe work being performed by Amish. I'd say that this picture is a pretty good example of what not to do.

LOL!!

GET-R-DUUUUNNNNN!!!!!!!

I talked to an Amish buddy of mine on the Cell phone today.LOL!!!

Here we are yakking about propegating Blueberries and farm stuff, and I'm out in the woods using a come along on a tree, and he's in his modern retail store with flourescent lights...talk about Dichotomy.

Y'all crack me up!!

The guy on the ladder is no indicator of all the Amish.
Some I know woulda free climbed the tree and cut with a Handsaw.:D

Others would have just dropped the whole tree.

That Ladder IS crazy though... wow!!

Stay safe!

Boy did you nail that one. That was exactly what my aim of these pics was........How not to do it!

Amish or not, what this guy was doing was just a bad idea IMO. One little slip from this guy and this post would have been in the injuries and fatalities section of AS.

i met a few up around Clare Michigan,
