Skid shoes on your plow. Set them to carry the blade above the gravel.

That's right! I called them feet in my earlier post. I guess to set them easy and to make sure they worked you would measure the hump/s of the drive/s and get out and adjust for each drive.
I have a set but I still would not want to use em.

And being a tree guy who puts salt down your are better off with the walk behind so you don't salt the landscape and you end up using only what you need which is considerable enough although with a big slide in spreader bulk salt is cheap but you can't let that stuff run all over either and BOY! That's a lot of salt!

Hey treevet backdrag the gravel drives , anything that gets pushed up you can charge to respread that back out ... I can't stand stone drives , I usually say #### it and just try to keep as much stone outta the landscape as possible and go to town on yer ....Or if ya really wanna see the sparks fly use a snow blower lol....

Thanks for all the tips and keep em coming. We plowed today and salted for a funeral get together at a home tomorrow. We tried the mini with the big shovel (Dingo) today for no plow access spots. Worked great. Decided to only use it prior to salting as we want to keep the mini clean of salt.

Lots of gems in Danno's posts if you look for them. Plow downhill instead of uphill if you can, watch out for mounds, etc etc.

We have been setting small cones to mark the drive from the turf but have taken some substantial divots anyway. Don't worry Danno ...we won't let anyone make us feel bad about it lol.

Half paid for brand new plow and installation already in 2 pushes (tot 12 inches here). Picked up a number of tree jobs in the process rather than the usual riding the couch and thinking about how to get some work last winter.

Again I am super happy I did not spring for the $1400. tailgate salt spreader. The $75 hardware store model walk behind is way easy and fast for res. svc.

Cheers.:pumpkin2:

Oh and I priced the tailgate spreader for my Truckcraft dump insert.....$5500.00!

It may have its place tho as the 8 foot dump insert becomes a basin for filling with salt and you probably could put thousands of pounds in there for continuous use.

15-18 inches headed for Boston. With two snow events this year already, I'm starting to think I shoulda put off the log and chip truck purchases and gone with a cpl 1-tons with spreaders instead. Dang...
