I started thinking about this whole issue a while back when I bought a used truck part and got a whole lot less than I bargained for...plus the seller waited about 30 days to ship. I think what was really happening was the guy was using UPS at his job and getting stuff shipped free...until he got caught, I think.

I've also bid in excess of the closing price, within seconds of the close of sale but lost at least two auctions...ebay said the problem may have been overloaded servers on their end or there may have even been too heavy traffic on my little rural telephone network...packets leave in the order they are recieved. In either case, Ebay owes me nothing, as I lost no money.

Those sniping services work pretty well if the competition is moderate, but what if many bidders are using the same 2 or 3 services simultaneously to try to overload the sale? eventually one of them gets it, even though the others may have had their similar bid in the next slug of electrons waiting at the gate.

The whiole thing just makes me mad!
