I have two very large, beautiful walnut trees. This year they have grown quite a lot. I'm concerned about the weight of the foliage and wood on the ends of the lower branches. They're drooping down to within 5 feet of the ground. I'm worried that these branches could break off in the severe windstorms that are increasing in frequency or in the winter with the weight of snow on them. Should I cut back any branches I can reach from the ground?
