upgrade from a stihl 021 to a ????

I love the 021 but it is small and i think it is time to go up a bit.
now here is my question ??
what would i notice if i went from a 021 to a 5 or 6 hundred dollar saw??
one thing i dont like about my 021 is it makes my hands tingle after about and hour of cutting.
will a higher priced saw from stihl be better in this way??

If you happy with the 021 for what you cut. then the 025 is a great choice.

If you want really good antivibration, you have to go all the way up the the 361, but that's 10X the saw the 021 is...


A good middle choice might be the 026. Still small, but lots of power (relatively) and you've love he way it handles.

Do a search on this site for "homeowner vs. professional."

You'll read about differences such as a much better power to weight ratio, case construction, and features like decomp valves, adjustable oilers, option of full wrap handles, and so on.

I don't think the ratings are telling all the story, but nevertheless you are right. The only Stihl saws with really good antivibe probably are the 361 and 341.
If you are considering the MS250, get the Husky 350 instead.
If you are considering the MS260, get the Husky 346xp or 353 instead.

Don´t forget MS270 and MS280, which have really good antivibe and are not bad saws at all

Where I live the 270 is already discontinued, and the 280 is too close to the 361 both in price and weight to be worth further consideration.

Here are both MS270/280 available and price is for the both under the cost of MS260, not talking about MS361, which is much costly

I see now that the pricing of the 280 isn't as bad in the US as it is over here, but how about a Husky 359 from Baileys at 399.95 USD?

That is a pro quality saw with magnesium crankcase, and imho a better choice than a MS280 at slightly more money.

More power too, if you need it - but also a bit more weight. :blob5:
