just a thought ,u can buy things to strap around tenny shoes so you dont slip on ice ,was thinking of trying them when rope climbing

Ice Grips Shoe Traction

somthing like this ,but the ones i was thinking of are like "nets" that go over the entire bottom of the shoe with small metal pieces spread out

just a thought

what do you guys think

I would think they wouldn't be very solid and would move around somewhat...

Great when you have all of your weight on top of them, but sideways on a tree???

what do you mean sideways on the tree, this would be for limb walking (grip) ,limbs dont always go staight out ,this would be for grip goin OUT and slightly up on limbs

Get some cork boots if you really want to take it up a notch. Anything that damages the cambium layer, however, will be a no no. Not to mention footlocking or trying to wear a Pantin with them on.

these things are like a few MM long dont see it doin much damage at all ,and not everybody footlocks, sure its faster but why do it when you can save energy with acsenders or people helping withpulling down on the running part unless trying to "show off",wich im not knocking at all

the "nets" im thinking of seem like the perfect addition honestly

these arent to get INTO the tree ,just for extra grip when limb walking,i dont see how these would be anything like spikes since they are only a few MM's long ,i used the link as a reference there are sum that can be slapped on pretty fast like the nets i was describing ,throw them on AFTER to get to the top for added grip

they arent sharp tips at least not sharp sharp

Maybe try to use your rope more. What I mean is put your weight in it and use your arms and feet to get out to the tips. I don't like the balancing act on limbs jusst cause you could fall back and swing into the trunk causing broken ribs perhaps. Doesn't hurt to try though well if you don't slip that is.
