Having more trouble with my chipper. After a "y" got lodged into the drum, we had to work pretty hard to cut it out. When we had the chipper running again, I could not engage the clutch? It is like it is jammed. Did we burn the clutch up?
is something stuck? any suggestions would be appreciated.

I can only say to take off all the covers to find what is still jammed, check alignment of shafts and bearings too, inpsect all pulleys, belts.

more than likely you have a piece of wood still caught in the disk. open the disk covers and the shoot will fold down. if the disk does not move freely with you hand without the clutch engages then you more than likely have a piece of wood behind the feeder drums. stuck against the disk. take a crank jack and put it between the two feeder hydraulic pumps and crank it open. DO NOT PUT YOUR HAND IN THERE AFTER IT IS OPEN. use a stick, pry bar and unlodge the stuck piece of wood. if the piece of wood is stuck in the disk where you cant get it out get a breaker bar w/ a 1/2 inch drive socket and a 1 and 1/4 socket and put it on the bearing on the outside of the disk housing and turn the disk clockwise. that should solve your problem. usually happens with dull knives
