Most people probably think only of the green, ScotchBrite dishwashing pads. But 3M (and competitors) make a wide range of sizes, shapes, thicknesses, abrasive types, coarseness, etc., up to floor buffing pads.

Through their industrial divisions, they sell them for metal finishing, auto body paint repair, etc.

I’ve used pads cut to fit a square base finishing sander, at low speeds, with WD40 as a lubricant, after seeing the manager of a home center use that to remove rust from the cast iron surface of a table saw.

I am sure that 3M sells a range of products for this use, although, a hook&loop (‘Velcro’) backing pad should hold most in place for normal use.

I keep finding things to add to the chain/sprocket/bar display.

Here is an anatomy of a cheap replaceable sprocket nose and an 85505 drum with the 1/4" "Cloverleaf" sprocket. The other drum and sprocket are the peculiar 9 spline set up found on some older small Poulan saws.

This is a 7/16" replaceable spur sprocket from a Remington clutch drum.

I decided to add a few bars, the replaceable hardnose bar is hanging at the bottom, plus a small roller nose top left, modified "lightweight" 24" hardnose bar lower left, badly worn Pioneer sprocket nose bar top right, and a badly worn replaceable sprocket nose bar bottom right. I have a few more drum/sprockets to add when I find them just to try and round out the display.

I was out of town today setting up for the Cedar Valley Engine Club show that goes through Monday. When I stopped back at the shop to pick up another saw I had a surprise visitor drop by...Dan H also known as Rockcrusher402 on eBay. We had a quick tour of the shop & display and he had to get on the way with his newly acquired Chevy farm truck. I failed to take any photos while he was here but was quick enough to catch him filling up at the local Kwik Star before he got out of town.

My display up front.

Today we freshened up another Roper, this one a Sears "Bolt Action" Power Sharp.

Missing the "bolt", if anyone has photos, literature, or an illustration I would like to see something.

We got the chain cleaned up late in the day so I will get this one finished on Monday.
