Hey, all. I'm waiting for parts to fix my muffler that came flying off while I was cleaning up after our hurricane and floods in September.

Had some questions, if anyone can help!

1.) I've tried to run it without the muffler. I got it to run for about a minute at best. Does it actually need the muffler to run?

2.) If the muffler isn't the problem, any suggestions? I've never even looked at the carburetor in the more than 10 years I've owned the thing. After giving it new fuel, cleaning the air filter and turning the tuning screws, I thought that might be the next move.

3.) I thought it might be good to have a backup saw. Any thoughts on this used 18" 205 Craftsman going for $140?

Thanks for any advice you can give!

I'd pass. They're asking too much for a used homeowner saw that only costs ~$200 new. Spend slightly more, buy new and get the warranty, or if they'll let you pull the muffler and look at the piston and it's pristine, offer half the new price at absolute most.
