With my older huskys I just plugged the over speed gov, changed to rim and drum then went up one tooth on the rim to 8 pin. Kept the chain razor sharp and a tad deeper on the rakers. All my woods/work saws had this done. Except my 2100 that had the timing advanced the width of the timing mark.
The 2100/288 ported saw we raced at the fair.
Now I raise the exhaust port and lower the intake, make them a tad wider and polish them.
