Has anyone here ever wore out a Bashiln spur? I am thinking that the pocket that holds the gaff has enough wear that the gaff moves around alittle. This tends to make the big screw that holds them in place loosen alittle. No big deal, just tighten them every so often. They cant fall out cuz of the other little screw and the sweet design which holds em in. So I put some lock tight on em and now the one big screw snapped leaving the broken piece in the gaff. SO...my buddy who "knows what he's doing ..for sure" called and now he is having a hard time getting the broken piece out and I am thinking he ruined it. Maybe. I feel like I am waiting in the ER.

Now , before I buy new gaffs for em I am wondering if the pockets that hold them are worn and the new gaffs will fit alittle sloppy and make me mad. Has anyone else had this problem? Can the pockets on those aluminum shanks wear out? I have been using these spurs for over 20 years. I realize I got more than my moneys worth already but I really am kinda attached to em and would sure like to just keep using them till my climbing days are over. Any thoughts?

20 years? Seriously, just get another set of spurs. What have they cost you in ownership, 5c a day? How many hundreds of thousands of dollars income have they brought in for you over that 20 years? Thrift is admirable, but timely replacement of gear is sane.

Yep. 20 years. Over actually. Although I did some construction work off n on so they didnt get used 22 years straight. But they have seen ALOT of trees. I think I am gonna try the new gaffs. For 66 bucks I cant resist. Of course switching out gear is important but I just dont think I am ready to give up on em yet.
