This concrete saw had been a victim of a local river flooding this summer, following a torrential rain which hit the region very hard and caused a lot of damage.

A flood victim needs to be stripped down to the bone, and cleaned miticulously as mud particles will affect all crankcase bearings. A lot of work.

Water inside the crankcase....fun.
I work on Solo made Clipper version of that model. Oil injection or regular two stroke version like yours.
A Dolmar 8100 series piston kit works good for replacement.

I know what you mean. I am older and grew up with the Imperial stuff so metric has the same effect on me.

I stumbled across this saw at a garage sale in Tulsa. It had been used one time back when it was new in 1965. A veritable time capsule for $40.00 !
For whatever reason, it was ran once, drained of fuel, then sealed back in it's origional box in a guy's attic for the next 50 years. Amazingly, I fueled it up, and it ran like it was brand new. The fuel tank was spotless.. It has it's origional pull rope, and spark plug.

I sold an 028 Stihl to a guy once that called me about two months later saying he'd cut about 30 trees up with no issues, but now the chain was locked up. I had given him a quick safety demo verbaly, but evidently he was ADS when I showed him the chainbrake function. I paused, and thought of the myriad of things it could be, and then, like asking a kid with chocolate on his face who had eaten all the cake, I asked him if the brake had been tripped. He shyly answered, how do I release it?
....... I imagined someone in India In a call center In a cubical trying to help some dufuss on the other side of the planet, when all that it wrong is the power cord came unplugged. Doi !

A buddy of mine has a big ranch over by Claremore, OK. He keep wanting me to sharpen the chain on his Stihl.
I never could remember when I was over there, and he would forget to bring it to me.
He finally took the saw to a local Husky dealer.
They told him the chain was on backwards.
Also told him you could not put one backwards on a new husky.
He left the place with a new 372.
I just smiled and said those are nice saws.

Things might be different in Europe, but in the USA, when anyone grabs a 10mm socket, 50mm socket or any size in between. To make it work you have to put it on a .......... 3/8, 1/2, 3/4 INCH ratchet

Found this the other day, crammed up in the squish band and across the top of a non-running Stihl 023.

I found this in the crankcase of a neighbor's 045 that blew up. I'm not sure what it is or where it came from, but it took chunks out of both transfer port bridges and it pummeled the hell out of the squish band and piston.

That was my thought too, but both rings are intact. It might be from the spark plug, but I don't think the saw had the plug in it when I received it so I can't check.

That part seems big to come off the spark plug. Any chances that the piston was replaced and its a remnant from that? Maybe someone missed it on a rebuild?
