I thought it was was .. Oh please Saw Gods, make this an 880... I promise to be good, and you can have all my Huskys...

.........picture is just waaaaaaaaay to easy.

Man this big saw is heavy, I just can't pick it up again!

If I have to pull that rope again, my arm is going to fall off!

Man what was I thinking....Should have bought a smaller SAW!

I will stop now

Right now my workbench is coverd in 335's, a 338 and a 2100... I don't have any broken Stihls..

But I was putting words in the subject's mouth...

all my huskys run fine.

only thing giving me greif is the ms200t but we won't go there.

he probably was sobing in that pic.he was having trouble with a 42 inch oregon bar he just got from bailey's and the chain kept falling off.finally after laughing at him long enough i looked the # up in their catalog and found out it was for a stihl.problem solved.

when stihl makes a large saw that can keep up with a husky AND keep the air filter clean for more than a half hour,i'll consider it.

i just don't see spending more money for less saw.

I'l put my stock 088 up against your 3120 any day.. and the HD filters on the 044 though -088 are not a problem..:rockn:

Lakeside53, so what's broke on the 335's and 338?

Here are our saws:

Missing from that picture is one 046 Magnum that was in the shop and we just bought a new 460 Magnum. Oh, and a 028 we got from a guy that we did a job for. :)

For how much more they cost, I'd certainly hope you could beat him through the log. But unless your racing, I don't think a couple seconds is worth nearly 50% more cost. ;)

Bailey's,3120XP price with out bar and chain $1,249.00

Stihl dealer two weeks ago, MS880 with 47 inch bar and chain $1,550.00

Add the price of a Good bar and chain to the Husky, prices will be real close.

MS 880 w/ 47" B+C for $1550 plus tax (6% here = $93) = $1643
3120XP w/o B+C for $1070 shipped from Summit Power
3120XP w/ 42" B+C for $1390 shipped from Summit Power ($253 saving)
3120XP w/ 44" B+C for $1540 shipped from Southwest Trading ($103 saving)

So if we had the price of 3120 with a 47 bar and chain......looks as if
it would be the same price if not higher than a MS880....the price diff
between the 42" and 44" is $150 and the 44" is still 3" shorter than
the 47" bar and chain on the MS880 price.

Alright, under contest, I'll continue then . . . . . .

3120XP w/ 50" B+C for $1562 shipped from Southwest Trading ($81 less, +3")
3120XP w/ 60" B+C for $1588 shipped from Southwest Trading ($55 less, +13")
3120XP w/ 72" B+C for $1645 shipped from Southwest Trading ($2 more, +25")

STILL MORE BANG FOR YOUR BUCK!

OK.....now where talking apples to apples :)

But I don't know about the more bang for the buck thing :jester:

Actually, looking into a bit more, if I buy the powerhead from Summit Power, and
the 50" B+C (closest match) from Southwest Trading, the price is $1316. ($327 savings and +3" of bar)

Also interesting, buying the 72" the same way, it would cost $1409 all said and done. That's $234 cheaper than the MS 880 with only a 47" B+C.

(also note: These are Husqvarna brand bars and chains in my comparisons, hence anyone argue that I'm comparing generic equipment)

Sounding better?

Both Husky and Stihl know they compete and adjust their prices in any one class to be "close"...

You also can't compare discount to list. If you pay full list for an 880,... what can I say... there a few good $$ in that saw and most dealers will give some relief. A $100 here and there at "list" make little difference - in the 880 the added HP and fully adjustable carb can justify that.

When comparing discount prices, there is also the question of whos bar/chain is shipped with the saw...

In any case, I don't really care about a second or two here and there, and that's why I don't fall all over myself to port much more than the muffler in any saw.

Let's find some big wood, and compare your 880 to my woods port 3120......the difference will be pretty large! But your 880 has the stock muffler, right? As I've said before, my 3120 was underwhelming when stock---
