Remember the good old days when the 08s was the farm boss, well i feel Stihl are just as guilty as the rest when it comes to naming there range as the farm boss has had a turn on many a saw in their range in trying to cater for something that would fill a nitch price wise it amazes me that farm saws now are really just consumer saws with a jazzy name tag to make you feel good and your told it's a farm saw.

I have a ms290 (farmboss) it says it nowhere except what little is left on the bar. The cover comes with a farmboss sticker that is long gone. I got my 290 for $50 because a tree fell on it. Broken handelbar/airfiltercover/chain guard/hole in gas tank. I fixed everything and it works. But, I cant help thinking most of that stuff would not have been broken on my 046 since it has ALOT more metal construction!

Metal/magnesium can be damaged just about as easily as plastics but is more expense to make and more expensive to replace. Saws are lighter today because of such current technology. You do not pay the same price either for a saw such as a 290 as you would 360 or even the 260.

Ha, divide and conquer. Confuse the masses and tell them they're getting what they think they're getting. CYA and make sure to do the research. JMO. Lewis.
