I started out using an old Homelite behemoth nearly 30 years ago, then it was Stihl, then Echo in the day when they were orange, then Stihl again until quality and warranty issues pissed me off and I went primarily to Husky. Once I started running a Husky 371 I knew what I had been missing and I feel like Stihl has to do some catching up technologically. It`s funny that I say I`m primarily pro Husky because I currently have an ms460 mag, two ms260 pro, three 026s, and did I tell you what a piece of sh!t the 019T is? It was the 046 that tipped me over regarding Stihl, but although I have only run the 460 for a few minutes before putting it in storage I can tell that they have made a few improvements. Can you guess that I really like the 026/ms260 even though I really like the 346 Husky as well?
Stihl dealer arrogance is another factor which when coupled with the typical incompetence I`ve found in the Stihl dealers that seem to be located every few miles around here, that adds up to give me an overall negative opinion of Stihl. Many if not most of these dealers are not "saw men" and the dealerships lack quality in my book. Throw in the stinginess of the Stihl warranty in this area and it`s like, why go there. Another beef I have is why did Stihl discontinue the lifetime warranty on their ignitions? Isn`t that regressive?
So at any rate, I have a mixed bag of saws also including Solo and Echo, and maybe even a Dolmar or two by the end of next week. Oh yeah, and an Efco? that just arrived yesterday. I think blind, across the board brand loyalty is shallow and not well reasoned.
