Hi SeeSaw, based on the specs I would guess that both the 346 and 026 would need the mufflers modded. I`ve only seen two and run one 651P and I was impressed by the power to weight ratio. Too bad we don`t have better representation but I don`t blame anyone for not taking on a brand that no consumer recognizes except for sprayers. Solo has got to put some advertising money behind the few dealers that exist. BTW, I can get the 346 for $349 and the ms260 for $370. The only prices I have been able to get for the 651P were around $500 if memory serves me. It was a while ago that I priced them and frankly all I remember is that they were way more than a Husky or Stihl and that virtually all parts would be mail order.

The 7900 does look like a fine saw and feels good in the hands. Dan`s statement regarding "Mercedes of chainsaws" is pretty strong, I`m anxious to open one up and see how they are made. I`ll be fondling them again on Friday at Boonville.

I don't mind going out on a limb with a new chainsaw like Solos, Dolmar or the many Shindaiwas that I own. Someone has too! The Shindaiwas being an exception in my case. I have as many Shindaiwa dealers as Stihl or Husky. I received some test runs before my purchases. Alot of Shindaiwas are running in my area. On the other end of the spectrum I have 4 Solo's, a 633, 690, 651p and 694. The 651p I just received ( haven't ran it yet ) and the 694 is on its way. I bought all of these based solely on the input from this website!

I could be, what do you think I`m talking about? Could probably be that too, wouldn`t be the first time I was accussed of it.

Rich Hoffman & Jokers

Rich,
I didn't think anyone had as many Solo saws as I do! I'd like to hear your opinions and impressions of each model Solo that you own to see if we agree. If you don't think it fits w/this particular thread, then please, send me a PM.

You're gonna love the 651P! The 694 is sweet, so much less than the other guys and a great warranty. I still don't have mine broken in. I have it set at about 12k RPM now to be safe, and it cuts real well. As soon as I get some time on it, I'll kick it up to the 13,500 the recommend. Can't wait!

Jokers,
You make sense my friend. I think Solo jacks up their "direct internet price" to scare people away. I don't know why they even offer them at that ridiculous price.
$370 for an 026pro is a good price for that saw. Dealer around here are asking $410-$430.

If you are looking for a 260 dont go pro. they are a lot more $$$ for a decomp. valve and adj. oiler. My next will be a 260 with a 16" bar.

Good advice, I looked into the 260pro when I picked up my 260. I thought the oiler might be of some use, but the fixed oiler spits out a good amount of oil for the bar lengths one might considder for that saw, and without excess waste.

The decomp valve would be of little use, the saw is easy to pull over. If for some obscure reason you realy wanted one it would be easy enough to drill and tap the head for one. the head and plastic top covers are the exact same pro or not.

Most of all at least at the time I purchased, the 260 pro had the fixed jet carb nightmare.

I know its been covered but am having a problem with the search engine right now. BUT....
Can you run a 3/8", .050 ga on a 260? I want to keep it standard through all my saws or is it best to run a .325?

Sorry for bringin up old baggage-

Drew

Sure, you just have to change the saw and bar sprockets. I run 3/8s full chisel skip on 50cc class saws. Semichisel and full comp work also.

I more or less use only stihl saws. I find them extreemly reliable. They always start great, cut great and they rarely need any attention other than sharpening the chains and cleaning the air filter.

Husky's are probaly equally as good, except that the bigger ones don't have as good power to weight ratio.

I tryed this exact thing, and no it does not have the power to pull this chain very well. This was an un-modified saw and a 20 inch bar.
An 18 inch bar and .325 worked much more better. With the .325 you might even do well with a 20 inch bar, never tried it though.

Good luck.

9- Husky 136's
