I know I have been running hard for quite some time. It's been a whirlwind up here since around October. Been rebuilding a few saws and lately been working on a new mill.

I milled some stuff awhile back and still have a couple of burls to mill and oh yea, I still have that maple tree to mill. Weather here in CA has been weird, lots of rain/snow at our place. I've also been doing work at our cabin on things the Mrs. has been wanting done on her Honey-Do list so I've had to curtail my milling for awhile.

Just talked to neighbor who may get me in contact with a guy with walnut orchards. He has had a bunch of trees going down with the strong storms we've had.

I'm starting to gather parts to build a dedicated mini-mill powerhead using another 820 PowerBee motor I have. That would free up my Husky from that chore.

So I think guys are just waiting until the weather gets better before heading out to mill. I'm headed back up to our place Friday to finish up three items on my Honey-Do list.

Later Guys

Well, let's see? Saturday I took down a large Norway Maple for one of my Boy Scouts Mom. He acutually "Eagled" out this spring. Just a couple weeks before is Eagle ceremony his Dad died of a heart attack, only 51 or 52. Took one load to the dump, a little over 4000 lbs. and the water pump went in my truck.

Sunday, after church, I took the second load, a little bigger than the first, over my BIL house. He has a burn permit, and I could make it there before my truck overheated. Then I bought my water pump, thermostat, and new serpentine belt.

Monday I got up at 4AM and started tearing the truck apart. At 6:30 the plumber and I started replumbing my whole house, as my BIL tore out the 2 bath rooms up stairs.

Tuesday I got up at 4AM and started on the truck again. While I was at it I got a new air cleaner and plugs. At 9AM the plumber, my BIL, and I were back at the plumbing.

Wednsday the plumber took off waiting for the tile guy. I went back to work on the truck. On the last plug on the drivers side the wire pulled in half, so now I'm puting on a new set of wires, cap, and rotor. I'm also trying to find all of the tools I threw across the garage when that wire let loose and crushed my hand on the brake booster. I calmed down a little and loaded my big saws on my little S10 and went back over to my Scouts house to finish bucking up the log. Used the XL923 to buck up the 4 big limbs, and set up my Super 1050 to mill about 8 foot of the log. The saw ripped out about 2 inches and the chain went slack. Pulled the saw off the guide rails and tightened the chain. Got it going again and it cut about 2 more inches and threw the chain, slack again. I think the adjusting pin may have broken, haven't looked yet. Was so mad I wanted to throw the saw across the yard but I couldn't, so I just sat there, looking at it, crying. Oh, they weren't tears, it was swet. Did I mention it was almost 100* out. I got home and the sweetest little gril you ever met, my daughter, home from her junior year in college, said "Daaddy, the DVR on the TV isn't working" smile, smile, "would you like me to fix you a frozen pizza for dinner?" My wife went down to help her parents while the plumbing is getting done.

Today, I thought I'd get the truck done and get the log cut up. I needed a couple more little parts for the truck, but I couldn't go get them cause I was waiting for the tile guy. OOH, I forgot to tell you, he didn't show up yesterday. He finally showed up at 3 this afternoon. My DVR is still out so I can't even watch anything I had recored. It's late and I just want to go to bed. Even more than that, I want this vacation to be over. Please let me go back to work, I'll be good, I won't complain. Pleeese let me go back to work, Joe.

OHIO , family , Did mill some short lengths of pine before i left, they were 2 and 3 ' long so i set up sideways on um and noodled em that was fun. Made a truck load of noodles and some rough 3/4 " slabs . Been running some 30" x 8' white oak in to 3" slabs heavy stuff .

I cut some cottonwood 2x4's yesterday. Pic from new cell phone... supposed to be 2mp, but it downsizes everything I send...

I'm usually checking in once a day. I have caught up with my logs now I'm gonna start on a few I had set a side for rainy days.

I just realized I hit 1000 posts. wow.

Congrats on a 1000 posts Betterbuilt. Sounds like everyone is as busy as I am. I actually have a vacation day today I took and will be working outside all day. We have finally had a few days of sun so I am going to go out to the garden and start planting.

Been busy, cleaned up the last of my logs to mill today, now starting on cutting and welding up the subframe for my mill, looking after the little guy tonight, drinking beer with my uncle hopefully tomorrow as we ponder the thoughts of the day,.............this year has been crazy busy thus far

Like others - it's been busy this year.
Unlike many of you others I've only CSM'd about 4 full trees, but after I retire I plan on doing at least 4 trees a week.

We are buying a house in Mississippi to retire to (add another 15 acres to several hundred) - this has sucked up a lot of free time since March, plus we are trying to declutter the present house.

And I was on the road for 2 weeks a month from Feb thru April, and May was all on the road (places like Alexandria, LA, Ft. Drum, NY, Brownwood, TX, Camp LeJeune, NC, Ft. Wainright, AK, Camp Shelby, MS, Kingwood, WV, Ogden, UT), and almost everytime was at the last minute and all included weekend travel. Thus, I've "cycled" the fuel in my saws more than I've used them.

BUT today I swung by Timber 2011 in PA and got a little contact with some sawmills. I definitely see a BSM in my near future.

Wish I knew you hit Ft. Drum. I work out that way all the time on the helicopter simulators. I only live about a half hour from there. Could have arranged a little saw time.

The electric company dropped a large black walnut that they deemed was too close to the power line. They cut the limbs up, but left the trunk. I happened to spot it from the road. Property owner said I could have it. It is the biggest log that I have tackled thus far.

I'm curious to see what is inside the crotch. But it will have to wait for another day. I'm pooped.

Speaking of crotches...I'm down in Center City Philadelphia and the heat we've had lately has made short skirts come out of the woodwork. I can't get a thing done for having to turn my head around every 2 minutes. I know you guys feel sorry for me.

ITs out of this world!! I'm surprised my neck isn't broken yet!

Was trying to decide if 'noodling' a few pieces to run through the bandsaw and making some pen blanks for this weeks 'fun-on-the-lathe', counted?

Been in the upper 90-ish degree F range with high humidity....sawing is the last thing on my mind.
