What kind of wood is it

I've read a lot of opinions about burn pine or not. I pay a guy to clean my stove and chimney. He is a full time fire fighter and owns a very successful business cleaning, repairing and installing fire places and stoves. He says don't burn pine. Using it for kindling is fine. How true it is I don't know but he knows a lot more than me about this stuff so if for nothing more than piece of mind, I try to burn hard wood.

Thanks. Jason.

I grew up in an area (N Idaho) where it was burn pine, fir, spruce, etc or don't heat with wood. Oddly the only house that burned down in the county was in the middle of the summer. Back then EVERYBODY heated with wood or oil fired space heaters. May have been a few coal furnaces but I never heard of one except in the HS.

"don't burn pine" is an old wives tale - noting wrong with it except the same thing with all wood. Burn only when it is dried.

Oh man, people in the east, you wouldn't believe. They will cut, split, and help you load pine to get rid of it. I've honestly had people do that for me.

I won't mess with white pine unless it's in the way. But white spruce and jack pine are decent. Norway pine is equal to black ash and silver maple.
