What makes a Husky 455 so bad?

Has anyone ever switched to .325?

The the biggest selling feature for the 455 here is that it comes with 3/8 chain over our 350's with .325. For the guy who wants a semi pro firewood saw with 3/8 chain it is a good fit.

Just wondering if anyone has ever tried the 455 with a .325 pitch std or nk . It seems like a 3.4 hp saw would be better suited with a .325 chain and maybe a shorter bar 16"-18". Or is the x-torque desinged to make use of a bigger chain?

I wouldn't call a saw with plastic crank-case a semi-pro - it is more like a consumer class saw........:greenchainsaw: :pumpkin2:

Father-in-law has both the 455/.375" and my old MS290/.325"; the MS290 walks all over the 455 and I think a lot of that has to do with the .375" chain taking more of a bite than the 455 wants its chain to be taking, and bogging being a more of a problem than with the MS290. The 455 should be running .325" chain for best performance in hardwood, I think.

No surprices there - "interpolating" a bit, I also beleive the 455 will be better off with .325, preferably Narrow Kerf.

I used to do that but... it got old real fast using the search for people and finding the info for them.:bang:

I ain't tryin' to be a jerk... just stating the fact that if we wait long enough, another 455/5100/372/361/044/660/Wildthing thread will start up by next week. All askin' the same things as before.

They guy starting this thread even started it with... "Here we go again..." So that tells me he did no search, and then asked about a half a pound weight difference... that is why I gave the thread the ol' :deadhorse: :sucks:

I think the mods shoud mandate that there is to be no more "which saw should I buy" threads I do like however the NCAA tournament of this saw v.s. that saw threads that pop up every other day or so, even this needs regulated to where you shouldn't be able to post unless you have video to with this real world testing of saws.
All in ALL this site is much like this world in which we live in. Over populated and a MESS! I'm in favor of it not being free anymore(i know thats what built it) 2 years ago when I first joined this site it was the chizznit for chainsaw info, now its just overgrown=mess

I disagree!

Beeing overly serious is no fun at all! :sucks:

Don't let the door hit ya...

Yep, its not a pro model. Yep, its 'boo hoo my arms hurt' heavier than other models. It cuts wood well and it's safe.

Gimme a fresh sharp chain, 93 octane and light weight oil for the cold days and me and my 455 can cut wood very efficiently all day long.

So, what makes a Husky 455 so bad? Nothing.

The part about it being free or the part about repeating threads?

Don't let the door hit ya? Didn't know I was leaving?

Just comparing the site from 2 years ago to now....there is a big difference.

I've got one and love it. I don't use it all day long, so I don't see any issue what so ever with the weight. I really like the fact that the engine is suspended by springs...cuts down on vibration fatigue BIG TIME.

As other have said, it's designed to be a high end landowner saw...and it performs that job very well, at a price that can't be beat. (I got mine online for about $300 and it came with a 20" bar, 2 chains, and a powerbox)

If someone is looking to buy a saw for firewood, storm clean up, and other general use for a great price, and needs something solid, reliable, and powerful, the 455 Rancher is it - in my humble but accurate opinion.

It seems to me that if some of you "do a search" guys have your way, there will be little left to talk about, since a great many of these discussions have taken place several times before.

I think that you need to understand that some users would like to participate in a fresh discussion, rather than just read a thread that they may have missed out on. If you have seen a topic before, and it bores you, then why not skip the thread, rather than criticize people for bring up a topic that has been covered before?

Would a consumer class saw with some pro features not be considered semi-pro. I would not put the 455 in the same consumer class as the Wild Thing and the other mass merchant junk, but would also never claim that it is a pro saw. I think that it falls somewhere in the middle.

Very Well Said!

This discussion is purely academic and of no real value, but if any saws in the Husky line-up should be considered semi-pro, imo it is the 353, 359, 365, and maybe the 334T/336 - pro saw quality, but not xps. How they are marketed differs from market to market.......

Obviously you don't remember the Tommy Fales/Gypo/Marky/Dennis Cahoon/dbabcock/M@$terbl@$ter/jokers days. This place is much more tame now. Not saying you were leaving, just that you're welcome to not come here if you like. Have a great day!:D

There was some fun those days also, watching the battles........  :ices_rofl:

....but it was not really nice.

Btw, I have had some nice experienses with Jokers lately, on other
forums........

...and Gypo is still here, from time to time, and allways worth listening to - provides lots of good pictures also.
