There was some fun those days also, watching the battles........  :ices_rofl:

Btw, I have had some good experienses with Jokers lately, on other forums........

Yep. I came here for chainsaw info, and stayed for the fun.:D

Well I guess I see where you guys are coming from, but where i am coming from is when i do a search(yeah I actually do that sort of thing), I have to sift thru so many pointless "which saw should i buy" or ? v.s ? duplicate threads that it makes finding what your looking for really difficult. Say if i want to look up something concerning "dolmar 5100".........It will be alot of uneccessary reading because people are still hashing out the same aspects of the saw since it's introduction.(great saw, but get in on the current discussion about it, don't start another thread about the same thing asking the same things.) If a certain subject has been talked about revive what thread there is and get in on it that way. The rule I follow is...don't start a fresh thread unless I have a specific question that hasn't been answered in my sifting thru current threads. I learned to do that by people reminding me of the search function. I also want to reiterate on the "then and now" about this site. I like this site for what it is..a wealth of knowledge. I do how ever have to take back my opinion of likeing it better then instead of now. I overlooked all the trash that been thrown out, so that should be looked at positively. People did used to argue and fight all the time.

And now my contribution to this thread.......

How rebuildable is the 455? Has anyone freshened a 455 up before, or are they built much like certain poulans(like a lightbulb) NOT intended to be rebuilt?

IchWarrior!!!!!!!!!

I've never heard/seen any physical problems with the saw.

But there are just better models out there, for the same/very little more that usually get the nod. Thats all.

I vote for Ich's Avatar,,,,, 1st place,,,,, now what's the problem"""" Oh Yeah,,:dizzy:

If ya gotta have a Husky get the 359 or 365 or even a 372,,,,You want be sorry!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

It seems to me that if some of you "do a search" guys have your way, there will be little left to talk about, since a great many of these discussions have taken place several times before.

I think that you need to understand that some users would like to participate in a fresh discussion, rather than just read a thread that they may have missed out on. If you have seen a topic before, and it bores you, then why not skip the thread, rather than criticize people for bring up a topic that has been covered before?

I agree mang... But, when a thread is bashed to hell about saw X vs. saw Y, and then the very next day the same exact thread is started by a new user... shows me that they didn't even bother to look back one page in the chainsaw forum history.

I am really trying to refrain from even posting in those threads because 1. It gets old posting links to stuff. 2. It gets old telling someone to do a simple search. 3. I guess I'm just a azz for being sick and fed up with it.

However, I do not see it as slipknot does. It is still a good website. I don't miss any of the bickerin' and name callin'. I got railed a few times when I first started postin' here:newbie: , but I licked my wounds and just ignored it and learned the ettiquite of this forum. I belong to other non-saw related forums and each one of them has their own forum ettiquite.

There are many topics to discuss besides "saw X vs. saw y", and "recommend me a saw to cut 3 cords of fire wood a year and it has to be under 150 bucks."

I am not an expert... I just think I am.:D :hmm3grin2orange:

Hey Gary, why don't you start posting something worth:censored: reading you :censored: :looser:
WTF are you talking!! I've never heard so much...............................

saw troll you hit the nail right on the head! that 455 saw would perform better with .325 mainly 21LP oregon:chainsaw: why people have to have big chain on small saw???......'cause they can't file...thats why!! sharpenning is THE MOST IMPORTANT part of chaisaw useage next to mixing the gas correctly.ect.ect.ect.

Would a consumer class saw with some pro features not be considered semi-pro. I would not put the 455 in the same consumer class as the Wild Thing and the other mass merchant junk, but would also never claim that it is a pro saw. I think that it falls somewhere in the middle.

The important thing in the pro vs. semi-pro vs. consumer saw discussion is the material the crank-case is made of, aluminum is ok on a semi-pro, but not on a pro - pro saws have to be vertically split also.....

Typical "semi-pros" of today, are the MS270/280, and the Dolmar 510 and 460..

Not to derail this fine thread, but that post right there is a good case study for the then-vs-now sub-topic... Not long ago, A100HVA wouls have been beat down hard and often for the unforgiveable act of using the word "gas" in that context... "It's MIX, you FOOL!!!!!! You NEVER put GAS in a saw, they take MIIIIIIIXXXXX!!!!!!!!!!!!"

I, myself, don't miss the days of the self-described, self-proclaimed and self-appointed "righters of wrongs" and "corrector of everything I don't agree with" or "shooter-downer of all I don't understand".
