What oil ratio do YOU run?

Maybe I'm wrong, but with a higher oil to gas ratio, you have less gas by volume. If the jetting was to remain the same, the fuel / air ratio would then be leaner, causing higher combustion chamber temps? Is this correct? I would think that this could be fixed with the H screw.

This is only relevant to the person who never adjusts his saws. I do it daily when seriously working the saw. Other wise the saw isnt tuned right and not performing up to its potential.

This is why I would like to hear back from cuttinscott about saws running hotter when mixed with more oil. Sounds to me like it's not an issue if the saw is tuned properly.

Nice and Smokey

32:1

It adds more 2-stroke smell to your hair and clothes. Forget about the environment......go ahead.....pour in a little more oil!!:

:sucks:

I ran husky and stihl oil at 50:1 for years. Then, after doing a lot of reading on this forum, started using mobil mx2t at 32:1 and 40:1. I ran out of that and my local auto zone no longer carries it (yes, I know it is 2t racing now). The last 6 pack I bought is echo powerblend (synthetic blend). I have been mixing that at 45:1and really like it. My exhaust seems to have less smell now than with any other mix i've used yet. The mx2t has a very distinctive smell that I really like when I first fire up a saw but it gets annoying after a while. I have never ran into a problem with any of these.

I run 32:1, but then again, I also run older saws, like the Macs, and Homelite magnesium monsters. god, this topic again? :sucks:

The more oil that is added to the gas the more energy the engine uses for combustion. more energy = more heat:blob2:

This is for lakeside53 :) Amsoil (now using Saber) rocks 50-1 no probs in 10 years. - wish it had a little fuel stabilizer in it though - like stihl oil.

I would think this might be true if the additional oil was so great that it was causing the combustion to pre detonate, (think bad gas in your car and it starts to ping) however, with sufficient octaine in the fuel this wouldn't be a problem. The other factor concerning heat is friction, which the additional oil does not create.

I tried the 50:1 and flames erupted from the bar and chain so I went back to pure oil... :blob2:

Or are we talking about FUEL mix??? :sucks:
