80cc and 40"? Or 60"?! Someone saying they had an 80cc saw so equipped would be reason enough to get real uninterested in the deal real quick - the BS meter would be going off bigtime.

I was thinking the same thing.

Shindaiwa is the name .
thanks

he is a logger and said he bought out a fellow logger.
it has no bar on it just bars with it but claims it is a good saw.
the deal is just talk as i have a good stihl saw but 80 cc and if it isnt beat a 100 bucks is not out of line???
I only ask here as i find you guys to be very helpfull when buying anything that cuts wood.

You mean one of these?

The largest Shindaiwa made is the 757 at 73.5 cc, just a bit larger than an 044 or Husky 372. It is heavier with no more power, according to a friend who has one. I wouldn't run anything over 32 inches on it, and that would be in softwood.

spacemule I will take some pics .
I am just asking as so far the guy has sold me alot of wood and no junk.
i looked and also dont see an 80 cc model .
it may be old ???
other than that are they good saws ???
what saw do they bolt to a big bar??
keep in mind i am asking and will never need a bar that size but am very interested in what the big guys use for the big trees.

In answer to your question, are Shindaiwa a good saw? I have a 757 and run bars up to 32" on it, for the money I paid I wouldn't change it for anything...tons of torque but not a speedster, a grunter. It will pull a 32" bar through hardwood, it slows down but it likes that. Old-fashioned I think, last generation perhaps, but strong. If you want a strong saw, don't mind heavy, if it has good compression and it's cheap, might be worth a try but if it is an old model, where are you going to get parts? S-D dealers are a bit rare around here.

Sounds like the BS I hear 9 out of 10 times I buy my saws. My favorites are when they keep repeating "starts in one pull every time" and the saw is half missing, you couldn't even give it one pull if you wanted to. For $100 I'd defintely do it.

I am planing for him to bring it with him when he comes next.
I will take pics so we can all see what it is.
