Got a climbing comp coming up soon, will get some of that. Bit unfit at the moment though :(

Hey Ekka, the top 5 New Zealand climbers are invited to climb in the Aussie champs. U gona go and check it out? Think its Oct 13th in Melbone

Haha, yeah Lopa's gonna go in the excavator comp. Fastest to rip a tree down and dig the root ball up.

The masters will be judged on the biggest flame from how they stacked the burn pile. :ices_rofl: :D

Jim, you better get all those Kiwi's training. Practice those events like no tomorrow. I'd love to see a KIWI take it out.

I can tell you now if they make it thru to the masters they better pull something good outta their butts.

I'll PM you what I think is the secret ingredient for the masters, this is bigger than the winged keel that took the American Cup off the yanks.

In my area he could make 20 - 25 per hour as a F/T employee. I am interested in knowing what that removal went for, In my area it would get price shopped and be hard to get $800.00 for that work. So it is impossible to pay "contract climbers" the $60.00 per hour that they want. Speaking of contract climbers, they are for the most part a blight on our industry. Hire good employee's and keep them happy. the contract climbers will only steal your work away, let them starve or go full tilt in thier own business, dont support them.

Not enough work for firms to employ full time climbers around here, well not for me anyway..

$800 ain't much for that tree..

That guy doesn't get paid around here...'cause he isn't around here. A decent contract climber can get $200-300 per day in my area but are hard to find. Despite what Jonseredbred said I don't consider contract climbers a blight-rather they are a blessing. I don't have a fulltime job for another climber but I do get jobs where I need help. Sometimes I contract a rope runner and climb myself. When I can, I hire a contract climber complete with his own insurances and I run ropes. Contract climbers aren't stealing work from me -they can help me complete MY work.

Exact same scenario for me....

I,m in the same boat and totally agree. Also 800$ is cheap for that tree is that with or without stump?I would charge at least 1300 w/stump.But if they knocked it in like 2 hours no stump then good price.

Don't want to derail this thread, but it seems like tree work is done for waaay too cheap in many parts of this country. I could easily get $2500 for a removal like shown on the video. I posted a picture of an earpod that I removed for $13,800 and someone said a tree like that would only get around $3500 where they lived. I know it is hard to bid by looking at a picture, but even tripling that price ($3500) to $10,500 would have been the low bid on that job over here. I guess cost of living is a factor also....people expect to pay more in Hawaii.

I really hate these mexicans over here starting their own businesses and LOWBALLING EVERYTHING SUPER CHEAP. I bid $7K on a job with stumps removed (2 big oaks trees & 1 beach & 2 stumps) they bid $2500. I really didn't care that I did't get the job because the trees didn't needed to come down and the people that owned the house had no reason for them to be taken down except that they were F**k*d up Indains who only like sand and our US $$$$. I told them they should move back to their own country if the don't like trees. But those guys did it at almost a 1/4 of my price and I know several guys who would have charged a little more then me. Its really F**k*d up out here.:bang:

Hmm contemplating relocation :hmm3grin2orange:

its not what you make its how much you get to keep.
its all relative to the cost of living in Hawaii.

Housing and fuel are way higher here. Cheapest regular unleaded gas is $3.14 at self serve. Road diesel is currently $3.24. Median house price on the island of Oahu, where Honolulu is located is $640,000. The town I live in, Kailua, Oahu, median house price is over $1m. I recently cleared my house lot, only 7500 sq. ft. and it was appraised at $72.16 per sq. ft for a bare lot.

over here $2.65 for regular. On road diesel is $2.89. The average price of a house Im not sure of but I see plenty of middle class new developments with signs saying "Homes Starting At Mid $300's"

So ya you got it rough over there, but not so bad when you factor in the same job pays much more.
Cost of living and rate of pay is ONLY comparable between matching demographics, but still neat to see how things differ from other parts of the globe.

Hey Ekka, i will try to get some vids together, just always more focussed on getting jobs done than making movies as much i'd like to be an aussiewood producer too:cheers: . JimNZ, alopa, etc i'll be at the climbing comps(not in em!) That tree here i'd sell for $2500-$3000 wood away, stump done and we are at the higher end of the pricing scale. I only employ my guys full time so not too up to date on subby prices. $20-$25 fulltime for a guy like that and $250-$350 for a subby i'd guess.

Wow, you're a half a millionaire, even if that's all you own.
