Don't want to derail this thread, but it seems like tree work is done for waaay too cheap in many parts of this country. I could easily get $2500 for a removal like shown on the video. I posted a picture of an earpod that I removed for $13,800 and someone said a tree like that would only get around $3500 where they lived. I know it is hard to bid by looking at a picture, but even tripling that price ($3500) to $10,500 would have been the low bid on that job over here. I guess cost of living is a factor also....people expect to pay more in Hawaii.

curious... in Hawaii, how much do the average palm tree trim/cleanings go for? the ones within ladder reach.

its not what you make its how much you get to keep.
its all relative to the cost of living in Hawaii.

how much would the tree removal in the original posted video be in Manhattan or Silicon Valley ?

If you mean trees with less than 25 ft. of trunk, $35-40 if done at least every 6 months. I don't put too much difference on height unless the trunks are over 50 ft. It takes less than 20 seconds to climb from 25 to 50 ft. and once you are at the top, trimming time is the same. My average charge is $50 for a maintained palm. Anything over 6 months growth gets prorated plus an additional $1 per month. So if someone has me do their palm with 8 months growth, the charge is $69.67 rounded up to $70.

Hmmm, did anyone else have this board go offline for a while just recently, it like bombed.

Anyway, that removal went for $2000.... good money up here but I think it would have been a bugger without the winch however you could have parked a cherry picker the neighbours side and smacked it down easily too.

I would say it was good money on the job but it was also done on a Saturday, by the time I got there the chip truck was 3/4 full and all the roadside branches were gone so it was bigger then what you saw on the video.

There was around 30m3 mulch off it and fair whack of logs. Logs over say 10" dia weren't chipped but given away for firewood.... still had to be carted though.

There was a phone wire they dropped for the job plus took a fence panel out to get access and had to leave the chip on site.

The climber was in the tree 2.5 hours from the time I arrived, I'd be guessing he was in the tree maybe an hour before I got there but that was the easier side.

So you had what, a four man crew, chipper/truck, log truck and it was the only job for the day ... sounds OK to me.

Housing and fuel are way higher here. Cheapest regular unleaded gas is $3.14 at self serve. Road diesel is currently $3.24. Median house price on the island of Oahu, where Honolulu is located is $640,000. The town I live in, Kailua, Oahu, median house price is over $1m. I recently cleared my house lot, only 7500 sq. ft. and it was appraised at $72.16 per sq. ft for a bare lot.

Ha! try $6.50 a gallon for gas and not much less for diesel, we're in your league for housing prices Koa,
Pricing is definitely relative to the cost of living in the area, what you pay, what you quote, 'cause what you KEEP is the key!

$6.50 for gas??? I guess you have it worse than us in Hawaii! What I am really looking for is a job that I can just do out of my home. Unfortunately, the ones I could do would not be able to support my family.
