Well I got the 042 crank seals and case gasket replaced without a hitch, fires up and idles great...that damn H side of the carb is giving me a issue...it will not fuel bog the saw to control/limit max rpm...it kept going to 11k then would unload and race to over 13k rpm. Think I need to raise the needle lever and rod out the H jet holes then try again...open to suggestions at this point!
Started assembly of that 660...got that little crank seal in the mail and got it installed the way I wanted in the case then finished putting the case together. Pulled the new oem cylinder/piston out and measured squish, without a gasket I got .017 at the edges....made a .004 paper gasket then cleaned up the ports of casting flash and gobbs of nikocil...removed the flat spot on the intake throat then chamfered the lower transfers....thats all i'm planning for porting until I can get a right angle hand piece to tackle the upper transfers...they are too small!! Assembled the cylinder, installed the brake, clutch etc....went to put the inner dog on and ended up putting a heli coil in the lower bolt hole...just finished up gutting the new dual port muffler so its ready to go on.
I purchased the piltz 660 dog set off fleabay, thats what I bolted on, not sure how I feel about the fact the lower portion extends below the case and the saw will sit on them...might grind them down...regretting not getting the safety co version instead.
