Hahaha, yup I took the little guy. Easy to run and easy on these shoulders that have bad rotor cups. As for the chain well I sharpened it but I got about 15 or 20 new chains for that saw so sharpening was mostly to see what my customers get when I do they're chains. The shop grinder does alittle better job than the one I got at home. The saw cut real smooth and chip size was looking good. Always wondered how well the chains cut for real other than the customers tellling they cut great. Now I know first hand that, what, yup, you got it, they cut great, lol

when you said it only took you 20 minutes, i thought you took the 3120.LOL:laugh:

Hey next time take the 100 and send the 50 overcharge to me if you feel guilty about keeping it. We'll call it a consulting fee.

Hey thall I am glad to see you helping people out. Sometimes its not about the money. My good friend drops trees for me for a case of beer. Trees that I am scared of dropping on stuff that I care about. Like power wires, house, shed, barn, deer feeders etc. Like to cut them once down, but my skill of placing a tree on the drop is scary. I just worked on a another friends saw and returned it to him and he ask what he owed me. I told him between a 6 pack and a 12 pack. He said you got the 12 pack coming.

12pk to fix a saw, sounds like your pretty generous with your time too there Cut. Nothing wrong with doing things for people. I once did a huge tree in a man's back yard. Great big oak tree that had been split by lightening. As usual I charged my $100.00 and he gave me $150.00. However after that tree I wound up doing about 10 more trees on his property, all got me $150.00 apiece. Each one was saw it down and saw it up and leave it. Wasn't long afterwards he referred his neighbor to me and I wound up sawing down and sawing up about 5 trees for him, all at $100.00 a tree, he gave me $125.00 for each one. In all none of these trees took much over a hour to down and zip up so I thought hell I'm getting a $100.00 plus a hour and really all I was doing was playing with the saws, worked out great for them as well as me.

Hey Thall, where's SAP? Not much to talk about now he's drooling in the corner, somewhere.
Lake last I saw him he and LarrytheCableguy were passing words back and forth about building license, building plans and stuff. Heck they weren't talking about chainsaws at all. I haven't seen Sap since then. I'll be the first to admit I sorta miss ole Sap because he sure knew how to stir up a form didn't he?,lol. He's a orenery ole cuss but kinda fun too. I'm sure he'll be back.

I ask a guy to price cutting down 4-40 foot pines and get them on the ground for me. Not near any building and out in a field. I will finish sawing up and I would do the clean up. He did have to cut out some very small brush around them to get to them but would not take more than 10-20 minutes. He said he would cut them down, get them on the ground for me and cut the tops off for $750. I should have know I was in trouble when he drove up in a brand new $40,000 diesel truck. I think lots of the additional cost is to pay for his cost of paying workman's compensation to cover his workers. I just can not afford to pay that kind of money, yet that seems not to be out of line when talking to friends about quotes for getting trees cut and hauled off. I think lots of people in the business gets paid high bucks through insurance agents. I know everyone deserves the right to be paid fair wages for a fair days work, the use of their equipment and routine expenses. I also know that the complexity of the job and danger ups the cost but the estimates quoted for just simple work never ceases to amaze me. Charging fair prices, treating people honest and sincere is the best advertisement one can have.
