Great post earlier by Dunlap indicating preparation.

Reminds me of dragging around a fire extinguisher for 10 years in my truck. Always one more thing in the way of cleaning the interior. Then last month, it was ready for a fire over someone's fuel tank behing a truck cab.

That's a great idea on the first aid kit Dunlap.

first aid is first aid

Maas- Sometimes every second counts. Even just a quick cut from the handsaw. That's why first aid is called first aid and not "After you get out of the tree aid."

nick

ps- my first aid kit is always in my backpack. don't listen to me!

Attaboy! We who are about to chip salute you.

If you enjoy groundwork, more power to you! I don't care too much for it, myself. My job description is climber. Period. When the climbing is done, I head to the house.

I've been offered the chance to help clean up on occasion, including additional pay, but I usually decline. My climbing pay is enough. My grunt days are behind me.

I don't miss 'em.:D

MB,
What if you have more than one job in a day? Do you go home after each one?

If there is another job to do with that particular co. that day, I usually met them there, or follow.

I don't drive co. vehicles. All my gear (zen gear?) goes with me in my vehicle.

Many times I'll finish with one co. and do another job with another co. that same day. My record is 3 co. in one day.

But I don't usually like to work that much - only when a good reason exists.

I don't have time to help the ground crew. Or, the inclination.:D

i know a guy in a wheelchair after a fall why i ask him"i had to much gear ''thought he was clipped on.ill take his advice i dont see the need, sure a sling and a pulley can be helpful but not really its all supposedly about rope wear and all that big deal ropes cheap

the only things that are permantley attached to my harness are a grillon and my zubat(plus my rope obviously).any thing else i need is called for, tied ont line and hauled up.as soon as i've finnished with it it goes back down

hmmmm, how about a figure eight, and x-tra biners, and maybe some loops. Would you call that to much? I don't always use it all and some how it is included on the climb.

Am I over reacting to being prepared?

Jack

Personal preference, I think. I also always carry an 8, an extra life support biner, and sometimes a couple of loop runners as well. I'm willing to add a little weight so that I can feel a little more prepared for an emergency.

I'm traveling as light as anyone, but when I'm on the ground I like to read about what others think and do, and that includes ANSI most of all. Disappointed to hear that some see no value in that.

Nice gif

fun, but...

neat picture, but you'd be up that tree faster and easier with a ladder.:blob6:
