What's wrong with this picture...

old fuel containing ethanol-oil seperated from the Gas and the ethanol settled to the bottom of tank, the fule/ethanol was then used in the saw


the saw was used on the rainy west coast with out a air filter cover causing the air filter to get soaked

O.k., oxygen in the water in the gas or in the alcohol in the gas, but what rusted in the carb?

So, what made rust in the carb?

Oxygenated gas with water in it....

Andy said it was caused by a lean condition when the carb stopped up

I don't have a clue why something would get that covered in rust, unless you leave it sit outside all the time...

Inside of every damn Walbro and Zama carb there is one part that can rust... and it's been that way forever, BUT with alcohol in the gas, the problem is getting worse.. Which part - look at the pictures....

The metering chamber cover plate. Either that or the screw that hold the metering lever pivot pin. Gotta grab one of my homebrews...

from your pics, the only piece that has rusted is the head of the little screw that holds the metering arm down.
